It was'a well run, fast moving contest and the candidates were interesting in their chosen topics. Father Harris open- ed with a Prayer. Principal Mr.M.Anderson intro- duced the candidates by number. There were three divisions, primary, junior and senior. Judges were Mr.L.Hibbitt, head judge, Sister St. Timothy, Holy Angels, Schreiber and Mr. D .Briscoe of Terrace Bay Public School. Timekeeper was Mr. E.McAdam. _ At intermission and while the judges were out making their decision, the St.Martin's School Choir entertained with several selections led by Sister Rebeccah. It is hoped that this will become an annual event. Senior Division: Patrick Heenan, Janine Pineauit, Beverly Legault, and Lorraine Dobush. Winners in the St. Martins Public Speaking Contest. Primary Division: John Bouchard, Jimmy Mitchell, Lorraine Dobush, Janet Roberts, and John Bouchard Valerie Stortini, and Douglas Angus. All photos by M. Lundberg. GIRL GUIDES PRESENTED BADGES Girl Guides of the Second Guide Company, Terrace Bay who passed their Home Nursing Tests were presented with their St. Hohn Certificates by Mrs. J. Jartus. They were Sherry Boutillier, Darlen Suo, Susan Pluta, Wendy Schritt, Teresa Ramsay, Terresa Falzetta, Beverley Legault, Linda Mclnyk, Georgina Caron, Carla Calder, Frances Cook, Adel Desrosiers, and Brenda Chapman. From the First Company, Certificates were pres- ented by Commissioner S$. Caron to Marilyn Kujbida, and Celine Landry. New Guides enrolled were Debra Cvitkovich, | Junior Division: Jane Anne Doyle, Janet Roberts, Debra Vienneau, Julie Randa, Michelle Stortini, Diane Allen, Debbie Johnson, Richard Petrus, and Lori Schritt. ~ and Peter Dashkewytch, Seamstress Badges were presented to Beverley Legault and Teresa Ramsay.
