PAGE 10 we ____ TERRACE BAY NEWS FEBRUARY 27, 1969 CURLING CLUB NEWS - Congratulations to the following teams who brought home prizes from var- ious aut-of-town bonspiels: The Ida Romanuk rink of Kay Thorsteinson, Connie Cvitkovich and Charlotte Scheuchenpflug from the Red Rock Ladies Annual Bonspiel. The Schreiber Mixed Ist annual "Minnie McCuaig Memorial Trophy" bonspiel was won by Charles Koski, Sheila Hughes, Jack Caccamo and Dot Koski. Runners-up were Len Crockford, Peg Wellings, Bob Roberts and Norma Crockford. Winning the "B" event were Hector McLeod, Elizabeth Burns, Dick and Julie Rattray. From the Marathon Men's annual bonspiel the Hector McLeod team of Len Crockford, Charlie Koski and Benny Hayes won the fourth prize in the first event. Roddy Thompson with | Brian McDonald, Mike Fenton and Ted Stachiw: won the third event. The annual Kimberly-Clark Mixed B Bonspiel will be held this coming weekend. The Men's annual bonspiel will be held on March 20th to 23rd. and the Ladies annual bonspiel on March 28th and 30th. The Ladies Thirds Bonspiel for the Mo.lsen Trophy was completed last week, winners being Elaine Zwir, Dot Koski, Julie Rattray, and ' Betty Bouchard. Runners-Up were Elizabeth Burns, Betty Turner, Bonnie /Marcia Hamilton and Anne Pelto. Winners of the "B" event were Vera Kennedy, Jeannette Gunter, Norma Chesley and Phyllis Kelty. Runners-up were Ivy Pattison, Cheryl Moore, Shirely Richards and Kay Thorsteinson.The Ladies Club Champ ionship round is now underway for the O'Keefe Troph The Provincial Ladies playdowns are scheduled to be held in Terrace Bay next year. Also scheduled for our Club is the Northwestern O'Keefe Mixed Playdowns. RECREATION BRIEFS - by David Courtemache CRAFT DISPLAY AND DEMONSTRATION On Saturday, March Ist. from approximately 1 to 3 p.m., members of the Lakehead and area Craft Association and Nipigon-Red Rock Craft Guild will display and demonstrate various forms of crafts. The demonstration will include wood carving, copper work paper mache and rug hooking. Films and slides will also be part ef this programme, which will be held in the High School Auditorium of Terrace Bay. There will be no charge for this event, and an invitation . is extended to adults and children alike. If you have} a craft you would like to display at this show ,,such | as weaving, ceramics, woodworking, copper tooling candle-making etc. please contact the Recreation Office or the Terrace Bay Art Club. It is our inten- tion to set up the displays on Saturday morning well in advance of the event. Hobbyists and craftsmen- lets add our contribution to this display. UPHO LSTER WORKSHOP - There will be an Uphols ter Workshop in the Recreation Centre, starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 7th, and running for the weekend. This is an opportunity to learn how to upholster your own furniture and perhaps save a dollar or two. Mr. Littleford of Chesterfield House in Fort William will be conduction this workshop. The registration fee is $5.00 payable in advance and} the deadline date for registrations is February 28th: Hurry and register or we may have to cancel this workshop. To date very few registrations have been received and not enough to warrant bringing Mr. Littleford to Terrace Bay. When we originally ass- essed the interest in this workshop, we received a tremendous reponse, but so far very few of those people have indicated they will be taking the course] ~ Remember - it is at your request and instigation that we planned this Upholstery workshop. JUDO INSTRUCTION - If you are interested in taking Judo instruction Thursday evenings, please contact the Recreation Office (3542) or Percy Ahern and indicate your interest.
