Farrier. photo by Marg Lundberg Preceding the regular Town Council meeting in Terrace Bay, Dr. D.J.M. McCausland was honoured as he retired as Medical Officer of Health, for the District . Reeve Cavanaugh, in presenting Doctor, Mike, as he is known to most of us, with a Township Pin, read a letter of commendation, expressing our appreciation and thanks for his many years of service to the township. In part, Reeve Cavanaugh stated that.as we look back and realize the healthy condition of our com- munity over the years, "| feel this has been due to your personel concern for each and every one of us." Mill Manager, John Ferrier, also paid tribute to Dr. McCausland, on behalf of all employees of Kimberly-Clark, in Terrace Bay, and also the surroun ing communities. Mr. Ferrier stated that Dr. McCausland had served the employees faithfully since the earliest stages of its development in 1946. More recently since November of 1968, Dr. (cont'd on page 2) _ THE DISTRICT FEBRUARY 20, 1965 NEW DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION The newly formed Lake Superior Board of Education which includes the municipalities of Marathon, Schreiber and Terrace Bay as well as the communities of Heron Bay, Port Coldwell and Rossport is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. E. Joseph Morgan as its first director of Education. Mr. Morgan has a long and varied career in educa- tion. After graduation from the Port Arthur Colle- giate Institute he attended the North Bay Normal School and taught in the elementary schools of Port Arthur for several years prior to the outbreak of war in 1939. Enlisting shortly thereafter, he retired from the services six years later as a staff captain. After receiving his honours B.A. in mathematics and physics from Queen's University, he returned to teach in the Port Arthur Collegiate Institute, leaving there to serve for several years as principal of the Atikokan High School and the Geraldton Composite (Cont'd on page 5) ane
