Vol 4 12 No. 3 THUNDER BAY ASSOCIATION MILL UNIONS en A meeting of the Thunder Bay Association of Pulp & Paper Mill Unions will be held in Marathon on Sunday January 19th at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall . Twenty-two affiliated local unions comprising this association plus four International Representatives will meet to discuss mutual problems and the New Employ- ment Standards Act, effective January 1 of this year. Mr. Peter Romanuk is President of the Association and Mr. A. Allen is Secretary-Treasurer. Both are employed by the Kimberly-Clark Pulp and Paper Company in Terrace Boy LADIES CURLING NEWS The first round in regular ladies curling schedule was completed last Tuesday. Winning.the Seagram's Trophy is the Peg Wellings rink of Charlotte Scheu- chenpflug, Marj. Liebrock and Dorothy Dakin. Runners-up were Anne Latour, Betty Randa, Dot Koski and Bonnie/Marcia Hamilton. Teams were again drawn out of a hat for the second round for the Laskin Trophy . Since there is no afternoon curling the Molson's Trophy will be put up for competition later in the season for a Third's Bonspiel . Events coming up are the Sweetheart Bonspiel on February 7,8, and 9. The Kimberly-Clark Mixed Bonspiel on February 28, March | and 2. The Ladies Annual Bonspiel March 21, 22 and 23. Congratulations to Peg Wellings, Sylvia Duquette, Anne Latour and Norma Crockford who represented Terrace Bay in the Northwestern Ladies Zone Play- downs and won out. The playdown was held in Terr- ace Bay last weeked with Terrace Bay and Marathon (continued on Page 5 Serving the District Interested ?? JANUARY 16, 1969 On Tuesday, January 21st, at 97.00 p.m., there will be an open meeting in the High School with representatives from the Youth and Recreation Branch, Department of Education, Lakehead University and Confederation College. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss with any interested persons the types of courses or workshops that these institutions could offer in Terrace Bay. You may be interested in credit courses, or non-credit courses such as Rapid Reading, Child Development in the Home, the Arts, or How Do | Communicate With My Child? If you have an area of special interest that you would like to pursue, then plan to attend this meeting and express your concerns. RECREATION NEWS- by D. Courtemanche SEWING CLASSES - Beginners - No sewing experience necessary. This class starts on Tuesday, January 21st, at 7 p.m. in Meeting Room No. 3 of the Recreation Centre. Call the Recreation Office - 3542 right away and register, if you are interested. Advanced - Some experience is necessary. This class also starts on Tuesday, January 21st, but at 2 p.m. in Meeting Room No.3 of the Recreation Centre. To register call the Recreation Office.
