SERVING THE DISTRICT OCTOBER 17, 1968 COUNCIL QUOTES Terrace Bay Town Council met in regular session, with Reeve Cavanaugh presiding, and Councillors Bray, Caccamo and Sinotte present. Clerk Hanley read the minutes which were adopted as read. Correspondence included a letter from the Reeve of Nipigon, regarding the Hardy report discussion, which Reeve Cavanaugh will attend. The Boy Scouts of Canada requested permission to hold an Apple Day on Saturday, October 12th, and permission was granted. A letter from the Department of Municipal Affairs stated that the Winter Works Program Incentive Plan had been discontinued by the Federal and Provincial Governments. The Recreation Committee announced that Ross Kilby had been hired as Refrigeration Plant Operator Caretaker for the Recreation Centre, starting Octo- ber 21st. Dave Desrosiers will act as Chief Engin- eer of the Refrigeration Plant. The Thunder Bay Health Unit will assume responsi= bility for the majority of Municipalities in the Dis- trict, including Terrace Bay. It is expected that Health Unit staff will be available in the next month or two. The District Assessor informed the Town Office that the population of Terrace Bay now stands at -- 1829. The Department of Public Works approved install- ation of water lines to the Boy Scout Headquarters House, to be installed by the Township. A copy of the Interim Budget of the Thunder Bay Health Unit was perused by Council. The Ontario Good Roads Association will hold their 75th anniversary in the Royal York Hotel on February 24th to 26th. (Cont'd on page 7)
