VOL-11,.NO. 37 TERRACE BAY HIGH SCHOOL NEWS In spite of temporary delay due to the construction strike earlier in the summer, the High School expan- sion program is progressing well. Erection of steel is in progress. The masonry work is expected to start within the next week or so. Occupancy of the new facilities will be phased in over November and Dec- ember . The student enrollment is 177, a rise of 54% over last year. The two new programs, the four year science trades and technology, and the two year occupations (boys) are over-enrolled. An additional five classes will be created over the next two years as the senior years of these new programs are formed. -photos on page 7 WHY PLAY BADMINTON? ? ? ? Because . . . . did you know that badminton re- quires rapid hand-eye co-ordination with excellent timing accompanied with smooth flowing footwork and fine wrist action. During a game, the player ex- hibits a combination of skills such as striking, throw- ing, running, jumping and abrupt stopping and start- ing. The duration of a three game match between two' average players should require a total time of 45 min- utes .~. . 20 minutes of this time the shuttle is in flight or being struck by one of the players. These 20 minutes of play are a demanding test of physical endurance of each player as he executes the skill of running, jumping, stretching, etc. in various combin ations seeking the weaknesses of his opponent. By then the player will have covered approximately one mile of court. Just come out toa Monday night session to join up. Bridge Instruction - There has been some interest in- dicated in learning how to play bridge. Are you in- terested in this activity?
