There will be a shower tea.on Wednesday, Septem- ber 4th from 8 - 10 in the Anglican Church hall in honor of Miss Cathie O'Brien, whose marriage to Norman Lemieux takes place on September 14th. Russell and Cathy O'Brien are presently visiting Mr. and Mrs. Sten Lif in Cochner and Mr. and Mrs. Brian Duncan on McKenzie Island. On their return to Schreiber they will visit relatives in Pembroke. Miss Esther Niemi, whose marriage to Ted Riley takes place on August 30th, was entertained by Ted's relations at a shower party held in the home of Mrs. Jack Corbett. Esther was welcomed with a corsage and sat in a decorated chair to receive the many love ly gifts, formally presented by Mrs. Tommy Whitton. She also was given the prizes won in games of bingo. The tea table was' centred with a special cake made for the occasion by Mrs. Corbett. lin addition to the many Riley relatives in Schreiber were Mrs. C. Riley | of Port Arthur, Mrs. Jack Watts of Vancouver, B.C., and Esther's mother, Mrs. Oscar Niemi, her sister Mrs. Neil Ross, her niece Miss Melanie Ross and aunt, Mrs. Oscar Laine of Windsor, Ontario. Mrs. Jean Shaw of Fort William was the guest of Mrs... Art Moorey last week . Cathy LeBlanc is visiting her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Mykichuk in Winnipeg. Mitz Sakauye is in the Port Arthur General Hospital Miss Marlene Birch, bride-elect of this week, was honored at a shower party arranged by Mrs. D. May Many gifts were presented by Mrs. Ray Cote of Espan ola, assisted by Mrs. May. Miss Birch is a graduate of St. Joseph's school of nursing and is employed in Winnipeg. Word has been received of the death by drowning of Fred Ronald Willoughby, age 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Willoughby of Schreiber. 'The death occ- urred on August 25th in Sutton, Ontario where he was employed. He is survived by his parents, three broth ers, Ernest, Glen and Dale, all of Fort William; one sister, Donna (Mrs. Harold Martell) of Ottawa, grand father, Laurie Halonen, of Fort William. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 28th at 2 p.m. in St. Andrew's United Church in Schreiber. The body will be resting at the Gawley Funeral home. Shown in the photo by |. Their course was sponsored by the local schaol board. ice. ~~ ' SPEZIALE-TRICHILO VOWS EXCHANGED The altar and guest pews were adorned with Tropi cana glads for the wedding of Teresa Speziale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cosimo Speziale of Schrei ber and Giovanni Trichilo, son of Mrs. Teresa ' Trichilo and the late Mr. Trichilo of Toronto on August 10th in Holy Angles' Roman Catholic Church Rev. Dean J.M. Cano performed the ceremony and organist was Miss Brenda Lalonde. Soloist was Giovanni Cebrario. The parents of the bride and groom accompanied them to the altar and took part in the giving away ceremony. The bride wore a bouffant gown of nylon organza with rosepoint lace. The fitted bodice had a sabrina neckline edged with seed pearls, sequin flowers and lily point sleeves. The skirt had lace panels in front which extended along the hem of the gown, with an organza bow holding at the draping. A swirling organza train was edged with lace. Her illusion tulle veil, sprinkled with seed pearls, was held by a crystal flower cluster and her bouquet was a cascade of Tropicana roses . The matron of honor, Mrs. Anthony Speziale, the bridesmaid Miss Rosemary Speziale and the flower girl, Anita Sepziale, wore similarly designed gowns of coral chiffon over taffeta. The A-line skirts had an empire bodice with scooped neckline and elbow length sleeves, ornamented with lattice work of white braiding and edged with white daisies. A band of the daisies circled the waistline, caught at the front with a self-material bow. Back interest was created by flowing chiffon train falling from the A flower cluster held their veils of coral (Cont'd on page 1!) shoulders . tulle, and they carried
