AUGUST 15, 1968 Swim Meet Held - cont'd from front page Wrestling Show 'The Recreation Committee is pleased to announce that they have had the opportunity to acquire the performance of a wrestling group, featuring two lad wrestlers as well as other bouts. For further particu- lars about time, place, etc., refer to the advertise- ment on page 5 in this edition. In order that we ca keep trying to bring attractions of this type to Terr ace Bay, it is imperative that citizens of Terrace Bay support these shows. We also hope that some of our Schreiber neighbours will lend their-support. So come out for an evening of fun and.entertain- | ment. Lacrosse Minor Lacrosse. for 'boys. and girls has. been can- celled until the-first week in September. However, there will be Lacrosse for young men 15 or over, as they have acquired their own leadership. Playground Fling-Ding The 1968 Playground season ended with a beach party and wiener roast at the Kiwanis park. A num- ber of parents and children turned out for a big pro- gramme prepared by the leaders, and one of the highlights of the evening was a pie-eating contest , which was won by Ross Mitchell. Another feature of the evening-was a Treasure Hunt for the children. There were over 150 prizes hidden in-the sand and all but 2 were recovered. Congratulations, Playground staff, for a fine evening of entertainment and for the successful summer programme for 1968. Coming Events Tuesday, August 20th - Wrestling Show, Terrace Bay Arena, 8 p.m. Thursday, August 22nd - Red Cross Swim Tests all day at the pool Saturday, August 24th - Annual Horticultural Soci- ety Fall Show in the arena Monday, September 2nd - Union Sports Day and Dance in arena. On Wednesday, August 7th, Miss Barbara Mc- Millan, Bride-elect of August 24th, was entertained at a Barbecue, swimming and Sauna party at White Sand Lake, by the Office girls of Kimberly-Clark. A presentation was made to her from the girls, along with many lovely shower gifts. TERRACE BAY NEWS PAGE 7 LADIES GOLF NEWS The Ladies Golf Club Championship Tournament, will be held on Saturday, August 17th. The entry fee is $1.00 and there will be lots of prizes. Be sure to put your name on the entry sheet posted in the Club House. Winners of the Tuesday, August 6th, Ladies Day were as follows: Low Gross - Peggy Wellings Low Net - Ellen Campbell Low Hole - Aina Adamo High Hole - Jackie Turner Don't forget the upcoming Eclectic Tournament. Watch for dates and times to be posted at the Club House and in the-NEWS. It's going to. be a lot of fun, gals, so join up now. The Ladies Board of Directors Tournament was played on Saturday morning, August 10, on a net basis. Liz Burns was the winner with Jeanette Gunter as runner-up. Liz will be presented with a trophy at the wind-up party. Winners of the 2-ball Foursome held on August 8th were as follows: Low @oss - Barb Wise and Hector McLeod Low Net - Bob Adamo and Julie Rattray Low Hole - Aina Adamo and Ray Hansen High Hole - Bill Moon and Dot Koski FOUND - on Walkers Lake Road, a womans gold wedding band. Traffic: 3 - Property damage accidents, with injuries sustained in one, resulting in $1810 damage; II - charges laid under Ontario Highway Traffic Act; 31 - warnings issued to motorists regarding infractions of Ontario Highway Traffic Act and vehicle defects; 56 - vehicles given safety checks.
