For the occasion Mrs. Deoll wore a beautiful pale pink sari. Roly Wills, Scout District Commissioner, spoke briefly. Gifts were presented to Mrs. Shack, District Commissioner, Mrs. Andrea Hill, Guide Captain, and Mrs. Marcy Cebrario, Brown Owl. The door prize for Mothers was won by Mrs..loan Guina, for the Guides by Cheryl Karns, and for TERRACE BAY NEWS the Brownies by Betty Ann McKenna. The fresh flowers gracing the Head Table were later distributed to Shut-ins, and the many bouquets spacing the other long tables were made by the girls and were exceptionally lovely. Photo below by Inez McCuaig shows Lorraine Belliveau and Mrs. 4. Deoll. CLEAN-UP WEEK STARTS MAY 13 It was agreed at the recent meeting of Schreiber council! that the week of May 13 be clean-up week. The Hardy Report was dis- cussed and it was decided that councillors should study it at leisure and bring comments to the May meeting. Council will confer with the CPR on the proposed' plaque to Sir Collingwood Schreiber, the site for it and the dedica- tion ceremony. In response to a request from O. Sainsbury, proprietor of the Schreiber Hotel for restricted parking in front of the hotel for guests, it was decided to remove the present meter. Mr. Harness stated the schools are interested in having an election for reeve and coun- cil in one of their grades. Coun- cil suggested Jack Gordon, as- sistant clerk, should visit the schools and give a talk on the procedures involved. Following the elections, successful candi- dates will be invited to attend a regular council meeting. The rink committee will be asked to notify council how many members are still re- quired on its board. Council- lor H. H. Fisher will make the necessary appointments. PAGE |3 MRS. DAVIS HEADS T.B. Furlonger's position as executive secretary is by appointment. K.M. Clarke, of Sault St.Marie vice-president of the Ontario Tuberculosis Associa- tion, was the guest speaker. The financial statement, audited by the Bank of Montreal, was presented and studied. In his address, Mr. Clarke spoke of the origin of the Ontario Tuberculosis Association and its purpose. There are forty-seven district- and country voluntary groups, assisting in the OTA program. It is the job of the OTA office to co-re- late the activities of these many committees . The management committee of the OTA is made up of people who have previously been a part of local committees. Although we are now dealing with other respiratory diseases,'it is well to know that in Ontario alone there are 5,000,000 people
