JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE ACTION In N'Western Ontario Junior Hockey League action Schreiber North Stars took commanding lead over the Geraldton Goldminers this weekend in their best of five semi-final series, winning the first two games at home Saturday night by a score of 5 - 3 and Sunday afternoon 4- 1. Saturday's game had the North Stars jumping into a quick two nothing lead with goals by Stefurak and Captain Bill Webb. Geraldton's Fukushima narrowed the count to 2 - 1 by the end of the first period. The lone goal of the 2nd period was scored by Speziale of the North Stars, as Schreiber led 3 - 1. Two fast goals at the start of the 3rd period, by D. Dan MacDonald of the North Stars ended the count minutes later as the Ist period ended ina tie 1-1. Defenceman Pat. Spadoni blasted the winning score by Lange on a point shot to open the 2nd period and Schreibers Terry Black scored at the 8 minute mark of the second, with the period ending, Schrei- ber leading 3 - 1 Hustling Rookie Stanley Spadoni ran the count to 4-1, scoring the only goal of the 3rd period, much to the delight of his home town fans, and from then on the Stars checked furiously to ensure their well- earned 4 - 1 victory. BANTAM GAME In a game following the Junior contest Sunday, the Schreiber Bantams defeated the Red Rock Bantams 9 - 3 to win their two game, total goals to count series, by an overall count of 12 to 6, having pre- viously tied in Red Rock Saturday 3 - 3. For Schreiber, defenceman Bob Fummerton blasted home four goals aided by Bill Hiller with two goals and two assists, Kim Gellert scoring one and three assists, with singles scored by Bob Webb and Curtis Martin. For Red Rock, Kurutiak, Labbee and Bou- dreau each scored singles. Schreiber Bantems now meet the representatives _ from Geraldton to decide the winner in the Western Zone of the North Shore.
