The Rev. E.C. Prinselaar of Schreiber visited Nakina recently in connection with the Home Mis- sion responsibility of the United Church in that area The congregation of the United Church has joined with the Anglican church for purposes of worship and pastoral oversight under Canon J.H. Long,S.Th of Nakina. A report on the situation will be pre- sented to the next meeting of the Superior Presby- tery of the United Church. ROSSPORT Mrs. Annie Molinski of Beausejour, Manitoba, visited her son Lorne and family. J.S. Lowcock of Port Arthur, area Superintendent of schools and Chief Inspector of Schools Mr. Rey- nolds of Toronto, were in the village recently. Bill Hubelit has returned from Ottawa. Mrs. Anne Todesco was a delegate at the Consum er Protection Conference held in Fort William on February Ist and 2nd. Ice fishing is becoming quite popular ini: Tents are popping up on the ice both in the harbour and inj land lakes. Catches of specklers and lake trout are reported. CURLING NEWS At a recent meeting of the curling club, final arrangements were made for the penny auction to be held in the club rooms on February 18th at 2 p.m. All members are asked to leave small prizes at the Todesco home before that date. The final mixed bonspiel will take place February 25, 26 and 27th providing sufficient teams can be made from club ong teenage TERRACE BAY NEWS ~ Mrs. Tentative plans | FEBRUAR 208 Prizes are to be obtained for a monster bingo early in March and a draw started on a box of groceries. Mrs Herb Legault drew the lucky ticket giving Mrs. Hattig Yandon the Teddy Bear. It-was decided that each member contribute lunch for the final Bonspiel social | Winners at the weekly games of the Five Hundred Card Club were Mrs. A. Rouble, Mrs. E. Gerow, and Mrs. T. Yandon. The hostess Miss Patsey Gerow served luncheon to Mrs. L. Ibey, Mrs. H. Yandon, P. Testori, Mrs. Lif and winners. ALTAR SOCIETY MEETS The building of a new Altar in the Church was dis-| cussed when members of St. Berchman's Altar Society | met recently at the home of Mrs. W. Schelling. Mrs 4 Herb Legault presided and led in the opening and closing prayers. A satisfactory report was given on the recent penny auction and bingo planned for the end of the month. Mrs. Lespenski read the minutes and correspondence while Mrs. F. Legault presented the financial statement. Lunch was served by the hostess . STORK CLUB Born to Mr. and Mrs. C. D'Agostino, a boy on Feb- ruary 4th. Born to Mr. and Mrs. P. Gutta, a boy on February 5. Born to Mr. and-Mrs. W. Neimi, a boy on February 7th. Born to Mr. and Mrs. M. Lalonde, a boy on February 8th. All the above parents and their new additions reside in Schreiber. Schreiber - Cont'd FUNERAL SERVICE IN HOLY ANGELS The funeral of the late Romeo Parent, aged 70, whose death occurred unexpectedly in his home on February 7, was conducted by Rev. J.M. Cano in Holy Angels Church in Schreiber on February 10th. The service was under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus. The pall bearers were Ray Kenney, Roly Stortini, Edwin Borutski, A. Therriault, Marco Eusebi and Aurel Gauthier. Interment was in Schreiber cem etery. Mr. Parent, who was born in Chapleau, spent many years in Jackfish where he served as foreman in sever- al departments for the C.P.R. He was married to the late Irene Frasér of Jackfish.
