October 5, 1967 Serving the District COUNCIL QUOTES '3 Let us pause to count our blessings on With Reeve Cavanaugh and Councillor Caccamo on the sick list last week's regular council meeting was confined to routine business. Acting Reeve R. Sinotte presided and present were Councillors D. Desrosier, R.Bray, Clerk W. Hanley and his assist- ant Mrs. M. Simmer. Minutes of the last meeting were adapted and business arising there from elicited a report from Clerk Hanley on payments by participating munic- ipalities to the District ; Home for the Aged. Correspondence included a letter of resignation from township policeman D. Whiteley. Advertise- ments ; will be published in various locations for a replacement. Permission was given to the Boy Scout Group Committee to hold their annual Apple Day and to sell Christmas cards . A complaint was received from a home owner re landscaping in a neighbouring lot creating a run-off during rain storms which flooded said home owners property. The complaint will be investigated. "Recreation account in the amount of $7,313.03 was passed for payment. Councillor Desrosier reported all activities in his departments are progressing favorably with current landscaping almost completed. Councillor Bray presented an account received by him which will be investigated. After some discuss- ion he will investigate Bush Fire jurisdiction and area of control. He again discussed the advis- ability of the township clearing paths in front of the various stores on the Shopping Plaza, billing the shop owners for the service. At present not all shop owners accept responsibility for keeping these sidewalks clean although they all serve as an access (continued on Page 3) CENTENNIAL CARAVAN HERE SATURDAY The long awaited Centennial Caravan will be open to district residents on Saturday, October 7th from 11 A.M. to 11 P.M. Efforts are being made to arrange that school aged children will visit the caravan during the daylight hours - leaving the evening free for adult visitors. No one should miss this once in a life-time oppor- tunity to see the magnificent glimpses into life in Canada during the last century.
