KIMBERLY-CLARK SAFETY SLOGAN CONTEST Kimberly-Clark Safety Slogan contest winners last week were: Pat Falcigno, Nikolaj Matush, Dave Cowan, Bill MacKenzie and Bil! Geiger. There never was any phase of human activity that needs more personal involvement than safety. So much o life and good living depends upon our attitudes toward safety ... our own personal safety ... and the safety of those around us ... at home -... at work ... at play. Perhaps we should all examine just what our safety attitudes are. Do we care enough? Are we involved enough? Do our attitudes toward safety generate the kinds of habits that merit an accident-free life for our- selves and those around us? It's simply not enough to pay lip-service to safety. Our interest in it must be genuine ... and dedicated. This week's Kimberly-Clark Safety Slogan sums up well the key to this safety message: " SAFETY IS WHAT WE MAKE IT!" PLEBISCITE POSSIBLE ON HIGH SCHOOL EXTEN SION Terrace Bay Council met last Tuesday in reg- ular session with Reeve Cavanaugh presiding and Councillors Sinotte, Caccamo and Sinotte reporting for the vorious departments of local government. Council discussed at length their involvement in the proposed High School extension, and expressed their approval in principal. It was felt that a plebiscite to give local electors an opportunity to express their opinions on such a large expenditure should be held. A closed meeting with the High School Board will be arranged in the near future to discuss this. Correspondence included an invitiation to attend the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association meeting in Atikokan. None of the Council members could attend. Clerk W.Hanley was instructed to write the Thunder Bay District Home for the Aged regarding final amounts owing to the Board of Management by the municipalities , Building permits for the Department of Lands & Forests for three homes were approved. A letter of appreciation together with a Town Crest is to be sent to Mr. A.Farrow in recognition of his efforts and work on the Centennial Park. Accounts were passed for payment as follows: Township $18,622.57, Hydro 7,691.46, Library 674.20. Lan dscaping on Drew Avenue is progressing well.
