No. 10 Vol. 31 TOWNSHIP OF TERRACE BAY - PROCLAMATION 1967 CIVIC HOLIDAY The Council of The Corporation of The Township of Terrace Bay at its regular meeting held on the 25th day of July, 1967, adopted the following resolution: "That Monday, August 7th, 1967, be and the same is hereby fixed as the CIVIC HOLIDAY for the current year, and that the REEVE be requested to publish the usual proclamation for this purpose." Its main element being a reproduction of a Yousuf Karsh photographic port- rait. Safety off the job is just as important as safety on the job. Nowhere is it more importané than on busy streets and highways. When we're driving it's so easy to forget what the word courtesy means. As for taking care, too often we're far more prone to take chances. Let's take good safety habits with us every time we get into our cars . Then let's recall and always practice this week's safety slogan" " SAFETY BELTS SAVE LIVES " VOYAGEURS ARRIVE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE The Voyageurs accompanied by Navy personnel aboard H.M.C.S. Porte St. Louis and Porte mm Jean and the Canadian Coast Guard vessel arrived at Kiwanis Beach Sunday afternoon to be received by a good crowd and their Army communications vehicles. Camp has been set up at the high school grounds for ninety voyageurs, ten chief voyageurs, thirty- five army, ninety navy, twelve coast guard and twelve administrative personnel . The canoeists have spent their stay here relaxing and Monday afternoon some:of the men entertained at the playground sessions with stories of their adventures and with a singsong. Events have been planned for the canoeists which will give the people an opportunity to meet and talk with them. ( see page 3)
