Vol. 10 No. 28 RE-ASSESSMENT UNDERWAY IN TERRACE BAY The long awaited re-assessment of homes and all businesses in Terrace Bay has started. A few homes were visited on Monday and some residents asked why they were "picked out". To those who have read the Council Quotes and notices which have appeared in the 'News' re-assessment comes as no surprise. All homes and all businesses are being re-assessed in order to bring them in line with current values. Some assessments may go up and some will go down. Everyone can expect a visit from the assessors. In the Fall after the assessment roll is returned the assessors will meet all interested parties at an "open house" to explain the evaluation. Ratepayers are urged fo attend and acquaint themselves with the facts - ask questions and make comparisons on assessments on comparable homes and businesses. Please note that this re-assessment includes all homes, businesses, mill property, motels, etc. PLAYGROUND MAYOR AND COUNCILLORS ELECTED At a brief ceremony outside the Terrace Bay Hydro and Municipal Building Friday afternoon, the Play- ground. Mayor and Councillors election results were announced. In the absence of Reeve Cavanaugh, Councillor R .Bray officiated assisted by Recreation Director D. Courtemanche. Elected as Playground Mayor was Leo Legault, with Beverly Legault, Chris Stewart , and Glen <a Kujbiba to assist him in their capacity as i councillors. Many of the things we put up with each day can be as dangerous as a loaded gun. Haphazard housekeeping is often a tragic example. A pool of oil or grease on a floor or walkway ... clutter on a stairway ... objects extending into aisles ... all are actually "loaded" hazards that can "explode" at any time causing serious injury.
