TERRAGE BAY NEWS No. 10 Vol. 27 KIMBERLY-CLARK WEEKLY SAFETY SLOGAN Last week's winners of silver dollars in the safety slogan contest were: Lucille Kodila, John Ropchan Steve Maronese, John Teniuk and Steve Brend. Knowing is not enough unless we do what we know we should do. And who are we really kidd- ing when we take chances just because nobody is looking. Let's remember this week's safety slogan esse. SURVEY ON MILL ROAD HAZARDS Kimberly-Clark Pulp & Paper Company have instituted a survey to establish facts about hazards at the corner of the Mill Road and Highway 17. Everyone is requested to report to the Mill Safety Co-ordinator all accidents or potential accidents occurring in that area. This information will be logged as an accurate record of ;what is happen- ing there. It may be possible with this record, to have steps taken to correct a hazardous situation. A sample of the kind of information needed is shown below - Actual Example - Date and Time - June 22, 7.50 a.m. Parties Involved - Mill employee and out-of-town car. Particulars - Mill employee had left hand turn signal on indicating turn into Mill Road. Out-of- town car passed disregarding signal at an estimated speed of 65 m.p.h. Employee was watching out- of-town car in rear view mirror and did not make his turn thus avoiding an accident. Serving The District July 6, 1967 NAVAL FLAG DISPLAY - JULY 9TH About ninety N aval Personnel from H.M.C.S. Griffon including a band and guard will perform -- at the High School bail diamond at 1.30 p.m. on July 9th. If it rains, it will fake place in the arena. This display is well worth seeing and it is hoped all local residents will be on hand. HORSESHOE CONTEST WINN ERS In conjunction with the Teen Town Summer Festival a Horseshoe Contest was sponsored by the Moose Lodge on Friday evening at the Kiwanis Beach. Lorne Piche and Bill Miller were "A" Doubles Champions with Carmen Brant and Allan MacFadyen runner-up. Hugh Hamilton and Allan MacFadyen won the "B" Doub les Championship and Hugh also was declared "A" Singles Champion. Runner up in this event was Gordon Calder. Ron Piche was declared "B" Champion. Prizes were distributed to the winners. There were no entrants in the Powder Puff contest for ladies . The Ontario Department of Lands and Forests reports that as of March, 1967, all hunters will be required to present any hunting licence from any state or province or successfully pass an examina- tion prescribed and conducted by the Department of Lands and Forests before an Ontario hunting licence can be obtained. Tourist outfitters report they are already booked for the first three weeks of the moose season which looks like it will be a busy one.
