March 2, 1967 MR. FRANK ROEN - BURIED AT SCHREIBER The funeral of the late Francis Valentine(Frank) Roen, whose death at the age of 52, occurred on February 18 following a long illness, was conduct- ed in St.Andrew's United i Church on February 22 by a Rev. C.E.Prinselaar. Miss Wendy Weaver was organist and hymns chosen were "My Soul With Expectation", "Commit Thou All Thy Griefs" and "Blest Be The Everlasting God". Honorary pallbearers were Wesley Miller, Frank Ginn (Terrace Bay), Andrew Megill, Keith Nes- bitt (Marathon) , Bob Kinney and Paddy Bolan. Active pallbearers were Alex Power, John Power,, Leonard O'Brien, Frank O'Driscoll, Paul Huminicki, and Archie McColeman - all brother engineers. Interment was in Schreiber Cemetery. The guards of honour in the cortege were formed by officers of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 169, White River; E.J.Linklater President, R.K.Parent Vice President, N.A.McLeod Treasurer, Campbell Mayne Secretary, D.Constantinean and D .Leadbeat- er. Legion of the Moose - Michael Didura, Joseph Willa, William Kushnieryk and James Kostecki (act- ing Legionnaire), fellow engineers and o ther rail- way comrades. Ushers at the Church which was filled to capacity were Neil Nesbitt and Sherwin Miller. Mr. Roen is survived by his wife, the former Chris- tine Wilson, of Fort Frances and eleven children - Kathleen (Mrs. Richard Duffield) ; Margaret and Betty of Fort William, Viblet, Debbie, Linda, Frank, Bill, Michael, Stanley and Arthur at home, and one grand child. There are also sisters and brothers. Mr. Roen came to Schreiber 25 years ago from Fort Frances and lived here since, with the exception of three and a half years he spent overseas with the Army Railway Corp. He was an ardent sportsman and one of the first in the area to hunt successfully with a bow and arrow. He ended his service with the CPR as an engineer.
