February 23, 1967 LOCAL BOWLERS TO SAULT STE. MARIE A local team composed of Bill Moon, Paul Coupal, Lew Edmunds, Marie Edmunds, Pauline Moon, and Dot Coupal will travel to Sault Ste. Marie on Febr- vary 25 and 26 to compete in the Labbatt's Northern Ontario 5 pin Bowling Championships. They will roll off eight games on Saturday for the individual Men's and Ladie's Awards, and eight games on Sun- day for team award. LADIES" CURLING NEWS Last Tuesday wound up the Divisional Play for the Seagram's and Laskin's Trophies. The Peg Wellings' foursome of Mary Dashkewytch, Pauline Phillips, and Ann Packalen, captured the "A" Division and the Seagram's Trophy well ahead of the rest of the teams, while Ann Latour's rink of A.Paulsen, S. Dorman and A.Churney won the runner up spot. During the I5 trophy games, the Wellings' rink lost only 1 game. Well done ladies. A much closer battle took place in "B" Division for the Laskin's Trophy, with Mary Hale's rink of Lois Shubaly, Glenna MacDonald, and Lee Zaloski who squeaked out a win in the final game over Sylvia Duquette's rink of Betty Randa, Yvonne Rochon and Barbara MacMillan, who took the runner up spot. The following are the final standings for the two divisions after 15 games for the above two trophies: "A" Division- P. Wellings 140 points, A. Latour 98, B.Bouchard 80, H.Lafontaine 77, N.Crockford 70, K .Thorsteinson 60. "B" Division - M.Hale 75-1/2 points, S.Duquette 67, D.Clancy 66-1/2, |. Roman- uk 57-1/2, L.Gavin 57, O.Chapman 19. Peggy Wellings continued her winning ways over the past week end in the Marathon Ladies Bonspiel . This time. her rink was made of D. Clancy, C. Cvit- kovich, and E. Burns. The ladies competed with 20 other rinks and won the first event. A.Latour and A.Paulsen also participated in this bonspiel with Ann's sister, O.Kross, and won 3rd prize in the 3rd event. Congratulations to you ladies. A round robin play for Club Championship and the new O'Keefe award commenced last Thursday. A total of 11 games will be played to declare the winn-}- er. Everyone is again reminded to get their entries in early for the local Terrace Bay Ladies Bonspiel be- ing held this year on March 31, April | and 2nd. The score ended ina 3 all tie, but Terrace Bantams still won the play-offs. Thursday, February 16 Terrace Midgets and Red Rock played at Terrace Bay in a game Terrace won Friday February |7, Terrace Bantams played against Nipigon in Terrace Bay and beat Nipigon 5-4. Sunday February 19, Terrace Bantams travelled to Nipigon where they defeated Nipigon by a score of 2'to.1. Monday, February 20 , Terrace Bay Midgets travell ed to Red Rock and won that game 9 to 2. Mrs. Sarah Jones was the winner of the transistor radio raffled off by the Minor Hockey. JUNIOR HOCKEY SEMI-FINALS Semi-Finals commence here Friday February 24 at 8 p.m in a game between Nip-Rock and Terrace Bay. The second game is scheduled for February 26 at 2 p.m, Sunday. After completion of the regular schedule the teams finished in the following order - Ist. Geraldton, 2nd. Terrace Bay, 3rd. Schreiber, 4th. Ni-Rock. Schreiber and Terrace Bay tied on a total point basis. Using the goals for and against formula to break the tie Terrace Bay came second. Come out and support the team during play-offs .
