Page 10 LADIES' CURLING NEWS Hearty congratulations to the Sylvia Duquette foursome of Norma Crockford, Ollie Chapman, and Glenna MacDonald, who travelled to Mani- touwadge last weekend to compete in the zone playoffs. In a double round robin competition against teams from Marathon and Manitouwadge, the girls emerged with a perfect 4 win 0 loss record to capture the Northshore Championship. The Terrace Bay Ladies' Curling Club's main Centennial event will be hosting the Northwestern Ontario Ladies' Curling Championships starting Monday, January 23 and continuing Tuesday and Wednesday, January 24 and 25th. Eight rinks, representing all of Northwestern Ontario will take part. To add to the excitement - is the fact that we will have our own team competing in this very important curling event, which leads to the Ont- ario 'Silver D' championships and then to the Nationwide Dominion "Diamond D" championships which is equivalent to the men's Brier. We know that the whole community extends best wishes to Sylvia and her rink and we all look forward to exciting days at the Curling Club next week. January 9 the Bantams played in Schreiber, In a hard fought game, Terrace Bay lost 6-3. The same night Terrace Bay Midgets went to Schreiber and lost 5-4. Midget goals were Moores assisted by Papineau, Papineau assisted by Phillips 2, Papousek unassisted. January 11 the Midgets travelled to Marathon to a game worth seeing. The boys played a passing game. If stars were picked the first would go to Bob Moores who played an exceptional geme. The rest of the boys deserve honourable mention for a well played game., Score was 9-8 in favour of Terrace Bay. Goals were - Papineau assisted by Moores 2, Papineau assisted by Phillips 2, Moores unassisted, Papousek assisted by K. Gorman, Phillips assisted by Moores, Dashkewytch assisted by Daley and Rennette assisted Gorman and Daley. January 14 Schreiber Pee Wee teams came to Terrace - First game was Thunderbirds vs. Schreiber Lions. Score was 3-2 in favour of the Lions. Schreiber goals - McKenna for 2, and Fisher for 1. Terrece Bay goals - B.Schritt 1, and J. Beddard for 1. Second game Schreiber Red Wings vs. Terrace Cougars. Score was 7-4 in fevour of Schreiber, Terrace Bay goals were by M.Papousek for 2, and E.Zwaresh 2. In the third game the Terrace Bay Mustengs travelled to Schreiber and lost their 6-3.
