Jimmy Corrigan, a Grade 8 pupil of St .Martin's ---------- Separate School, won the Student of the Month QUETICO CENTRE RECEIVES DONATION Award for December. Mr.P.P. Ribotto, vice-president of Caland Ore Company, Atikokan, Ontario, presented a cheque of $2000. to Quetico Centre Executive Committee at a recent meeting. Mr .Ribotto said, "Caland Ore is convinced of the value of the Centre as a development organiza- tion for Northwestern Ontario. " Mr.C.M. McIntosh, Director of the Centre, out- lined the need the Centre has for continued financial support. He indicated the Ontario Government grant of $655,000. provided the Centre with funds to construct buildings . He stated the fact that the buildings could have been used five years ago. The Centre is continually improving facilities. Annually the Centre must raise $20,000. to cover deficiencies. He concluded that much remains to be done to develop the Northwestern Ontario economically and culturally.
