Page 12 _ DEPT.OF TRANSPORT NAMES NEW OFFENCE Toronto - Finding frost on the windows of your car th ese mornings? ? Better make sure you clear it off before you start driving. Effective October 1, it is an offence in Ontario to drive a motor vehicle on the highway unless the windshield, windows on either side of the driver and the rear window provide a clear view of the roadway and vehicles approaching from either direction. The provision respecting the rear window does not apply where the motor vehicle is in a position to give the driver a clear view of the roadway in the rear, other than through the rear window. Drivers found in violation will be liable to fines of not less than $10, nor more than $100. Their licenses may also be suspended for a 30-day period. NOTE: After a summer of perfect weather and an unsurpassed fall - it was expected but not antici- pated with pleasure - that one of these morning we would find snow. It arrived on Tuesday morning - a light covering which didn't last too long and we hope it presages Indian Summer - not the onset of winter. However, the warning issued by the Dept. of Transport should be heeded. One of these days it will be a condition found on many cars riding to and from the Mill - and this will mean 'on the highway ." ' ELECTRIC BLANKET BONUS WITH DRYER An electric blanket free with every new electric clothes dryer sold in Ontario between Oct.1 and Nov.12 is this year's "Hydro Special" promotion campaign. Appliance dealers and electrical utilities are co-operating in the prevince-wide promotion. The floral print blanket is double bed size with a single control . Ontario Hydro will support the Hydro Special promotion by including electric clothes dryers and electric 'blankets in its mobile display coach and in exhibits at fall fairs and exhibitions. Their home economists will feature the care and use of dryers and electric blankets in their presentations. . At present nearly one of every three Ontario families enjoys the convenience of an electric . clothes dryer.
