Mantel Cosgrove, who is employed with the Dept. of Lands and Forests in White River, spent last week with her parents, Mr.and Mrs.Austin Cosgrove. Surprise visitors with Mr.and Mrs .Cosgrove last week were Mr.and Mrs.T.Todd of Brockville, cousins of Austin's, enroute to the Lakehead. Lionel Bourguignon is holidaying in Spain now during a tour of Europe. Sqd.Leader Lois Davis of.Ottawa is visiting her sister and brother, Mrs.Bill Lidkea and Ken Davis and their families. In the recent Catholic Women's League draw, Mrs. Austin Cosgrove won the electric blender, Mrs. Bruce Lidkea the set of flatware and Mrs.Georges Legault (Montreal) the centrepiece. Miss Audrey Bryar of Marathon was entertained by Schreiber friends at a pre-nuptial shower arranged in the home of Mrs.Rene Bedard. Receiving with Audrey and her mother, Mrs.Leo Bryar, were Mrs. Harold Dick, her fiancee's mother and Roland Bedard, Also coming from Marathon for the occasion were Mrs.A.Dick and Mrs.Diane Dyer. Servitors were the Misses Anne Noonan, Nicole Oulette, Wendy Weaver and Mary Violet Lang. Replenishing was done by Mesdames Edgar Ray, Leonard O'Brien and Charles Pearson. Continued ..... These are not mine workers but volunteer laborers assisting on the $60,000 renovation of the Schreiber Arena which includes installation of an artificial ice plant. More volunteers are urgently required to complete the undertaking if it is to be opened this year. The men shown above are excavating with pick and shovel, after which the wheelbarrow is laborously towed up to floor level by rope to be dumped. In the photo are John McParland and Fred Eick- meier standing above with Bill Scott in back and Bill Stefurak in foreground. All have taken an active interest in minor hockey and Bill, Fred and John have put in a month's "hard licks' before returning to University. Mr.Stefurak is one of the prime movers in minor hockey each year. SHOWER (Continued) Miss Sharon O'Brien opened the gifts for display. Miss Juanita Stewart of Port Arthur drove her brother Hugh home over the weekend. Miss Clot- hilde McTeigue accompanied her. Visiting with Mr.and Mrs.Wesley Clemens were the former's sister and husband, Mr.and Mrs. Will Deakins and son Barry of Wiarton and Mr.and Mrs. Ronald Hodgkins of Kincardine.
