LABOR DAY CELEBRATIONS BEST EVER HERE The Annual Labour Day Track and Field events in Terrace Bay were run off this year under mainly sunny skies. From all reports this year's events were the best ever and the co-sponsors, Local 665 1.B.P.S.& P.M.W. and Local I86I, 1.B.E.W. wish to thank all who co-operated to make this such a successful day. Special thanks to the members who helped where needed and to Teen Town who once again did a won- derful job and finally, to our town's Recreation Director, Buck Matiowsky, for the organizing and hard work that he put into this year's program. The News deadline makes it impossible to list all winners and still make this week's issue. Highlights of the day were the spectacular pile-up of four bikes in the girls bicycle race. Fortunately there were no serious injuries; the Mother and Daughter three-leggec race that had to be run in two heats due to the large number of entries; and the Men's and Ladies' Tug-of- War teams. These winners really worked for their prizes. Free treats for the children and the awarding of silver dollars to the winners--half dollars to those placing second and quarters for third assured all who attended a chance to enjoy the day and possibly take home some prize money. All who attended the free dance in the Arena were equally impressed with the excellent music provided by the Jesters (a Lakehead orchestra) and by the or- ganizing and preparation which contributed to making this an outstanding event. Held cabaret style in the Arena, the arrangement of tables circling the floor left ample room for danc- ing and the atmosphere of gayety made this a fitting climax for the best-ever labor day celebration held in Terrace Bay.
