Once again an attempt to hire a dog-catcher will be made. A decision regarding the proposed installation of electric heating in a model home is awaited from the Hydro authority. A letter has b een received from the Department of Transport with reference to by-law 51D which deals with the erection of new parking signs. It is now possible for the work to go ahead--six months after the subject was first raised. The report of the Water Resources Board after in- inspection and testing of the T own's water supply, is that there is no immediate danger to health. But, the report continued, there could be a health hazard in the future from seepage from the dump, and from the sewage disposal. This hazard could be lessened by the installation, some time in the future, of a separate chlorination plant for the drinking water supplied to the town. At present the Town's supply is drawn from the Mill pumping system which contains 4% chlorine. The Fire Department reported there were no fires in July-- that practices had been held when pumping and hose laying operations were conducted. A let- ter has been sent to Robert Adamo pointing out that under regulations any Fire Department volunteer fai ling to attend three successive practices is auto- matically retired from the volunteer fire brigade. In the early part of July the Police Department held an informal meeting with the majority of motor cycle and Honda owners where they were cautioned to refrain from speeding and from making excessive noise on the streets of the town after 10:00 p.m. There does appear to have been some improvement in this situation. At the two dances held in the Arena during the month the teenagers were much better supervised and only one ch arge relating to the possession of liquor in a public place was laid. Investigation is still under way over the windows broken at the Public School on the night of the first dance. Two motorists have been warned about noisy. mufflers and one car ordered off the road until it is in a satisfactory and safe condition. An improvement in milk delivery service has been requested by Council in letters to both dairies concerned. In view of the high price of the com- modity it was felt that some satisfactory arrangement continued page 4
