Mr.and Mrs.Lawrence Tremblay and family are in Vancouver where Mr.Tremblay is attending a conven- tion of the Tr ansportation and Communications Em- ployees' Union. Mr .and Mrs.Mervyn Perrault have the latter's brother and his wife, Mr.and Mrs.Greg Carty of Ottawa visiting them. Earl D'Arcy of Toronto is visiting his mother and others in the D'Arcy family here. George Duncan has granddaughters Sandra and Heather Murray and Sandra's fiancee, Dennis Brown, all of Winnipeg, visiting him. Visiting Mr.and Mrs .Frank McKenna are Mr.and | Mrs.Gordon Vaillancourt, Susan Vaillancourt, Col- ette Seguin and Nelson Lambert, all of Sudbury . Ted Blanchard of Stayner, Ont., is visiting his nieces, Mrs.Bill Cocks and Mrs .Bob Spadoni. Mrs.Alex Furyk is visiting her nephew John Skrins- ky and family in Toronto. Mr.and Mrs.Ray Uvanile and family of Crofton, B.C.and Mrs.A.B.Coghlan of Port Arthur spent last week visiting Mr.and Mrs.Bruce Simon, Milford Walker and old friends. Mrs.Laurenna Nase of Lancaster, N.B.is visiting Mrs .Bob Turner and her family. Mr .and Mrs.Eino Rentola of Scarboro are the guests of Mr.and Mrs.W.H.Niemi. Mr.and Mrs.Ray Potvin and family of Windsor are visiting relations here. Mr .and Mrs.Gordon McPhail and family are holi- daying in the Reid camp at Walker Lake. Father Epoch, who has been in Holy Angel's parish several times, is not taking Father Cano's place while he is on holidays. Mrs.Tom Bryant has returned from Port Arthur hos- pital . Mr .and Mrs. Arnold O'Keefe have had the former's cousins, Mr.and Mrs.Jack Rea and family of Fort William, visiting them. Mrs .Edward Hill of Sunshine is visiting Mrs. Michael Lawrence Trembley, Mrs.Wallace and Nim Wallace, retired train despatcher. Photo by Inez McCusig W.T.WALLACE HONORED ON RETIREMENT Retiring after forty-two years service with the CPR, W.T. (Nim) Wallace was honored by fellow employees and old friends who met in the town hall. Tribute was paid not only to his craft efficiency but to the part he has played in community affairs. A corsage was presented to Mrs.Wallace and later in the evening other gifts were presented by Mr .and Mrs.Lawrence Tremblay. Mr.Wallace came to Schreiber from North Bay and shortly after the nickname "Nim" was bestowed on him for a now long-forgotten reason. CPR Superintendent J.D.Bromley said Nim rea- lized the importance of co-operation, earning the good will of section men, yardmasters, car men and those in the running trades, an affiliation not too widely enjoyed. Chief despatcher, R.C.Campbell, after paying tribute to Nim's.despatching ability, referred humorously to the name evolving in the days of steam engines when his call signature evolved as Water Tank Willie. Others, added Mr.Campbell, were not quite so fortunate in their soubriquets! Lester McCuaig recalled earlier days when Nim with his talent as violinist and drummer contributed many hours freely playing for various benefit dances .| Nim was in one of the earliest formal dance bands in Schreiber, The White Tux. Not content with accepted forms of music Nim devised a one string fiddle on which he plays supposedly lyric Chinese music, a highlight of many intimate social gather- ings.
