COUNCIL QUOTES - Continued from page 1 A request from the Fire Dept .for a hose-drying rack was rejected as it was not included in the budget. Council suggested that the Fire Committee under- take the work during some of their meetings. Police reported only minor incidents and said that increased vigilance would be maintained on the highway now th at traffic is reaching its peak. The radar set is operating and working satisfactorily. Sgt.L.Chambers of the Traffic Dept. has requested permission to try out the radar when he is in the district. If a safety check of some of the older cars in town is carried out the Police Dept. would be able to count on the full support of Council . Since resignation of the last dog-catcher, com- plaints have increased but without the co-operation of all dog owners there is little to be done. Ef- forts will be made to secure the services of a per- C &T MARINE Sales and Sezvice manent dog catcher but until then it seems to be a case of eith er "live and let live" or "do as you would be done by." Residents are reminded that before any building or remodelling of existing structures is done a per- mit must be obtained from the Municipal Office. This applies equally to homeowners and tenants. Council will study the possibilites of having the Public Health Unit take over public health in the town some time in the future. This provincial ser- vice covers all school health as well as the inspec- tion of food handling establishments and water tests. Council was cordially invited to attend the an- nual ins pection and banquet to be held by St. John's Ambulance on June 22nd in Schreiber. At the request of Judge Reed of the Ci tizenship Court an estimate of the number of non-Canadian citizens in Terrace Bay will be made in order to establish the feasibility of setting up a Court in town. In reply to a letter from mill manager J.A.Ferrier concerning the development of Lakeview Drive, two representatives of Council will meet with him to discuss the matter. SILVER BIRCH (Continued from page 8) Farrow, Barbara Haughn and Mrs.Aggie Sinkins at- tended a banquet at Wawa, accompanying several members who travelled from the Lakehead.
