June THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF SCHREIBER 0 ee DAYLIGHT SAVING -- JULY IST TO SEPT .5, 1966 On a recent opinion poll it is the consensus desire of the citizens of Schreiber to institute Daylight Saving Time. The Township Council hereby decrees that Daylight Saving Time be observed in the Township of Schrei- ber for the year 1966 commencing at 2 o'clock a.m. on Friday, July Ist and continuing until 2 o'clock a.m., on Monday, September 5th. Citizens are hereby requested to advance clocks and/or time pieces one hour at 2 o'clock a.m. on Sunday, July Ist and retard them one hour at 2 o'clock a.m., on September 5th. The Council thanks the citizens for the interest shown in the poll and respectfully request the whole hearted support of all citizens in making a success of this time saving change for public b enefit. Photo by |.McCuaig RETIRES AFTER FORTY YEARS SERVICE WITH CPR When Walter Shewchuk finished his last day of work after forty years service as section man in Schreiber he was greeted by his family, friends and fellow workers who presented a purse in token of their congratulations and good wishes. Mr .Shewchuk came to Schreiber August 3, 1926 and entered the CPR service on August 5th, remain- ing in their employ since. Mr.and Mrs .Shewchuk's daughter Mary, Mrs. Nick Youzwa, her husband and daugh ter Marilyn, of Cameron Falls were here for the occasion and good wishes were also received from sons Peter, RCAF in France and Victor in Vancouver. A dinner was held in their home and during the afternoon and evening old friends called. Although Mr .Shewchuk was nominally a section man his main occupation was gardening and the grounds of the railway station and the superintendent's home are the beauty spots of the town. ST. JOHN AMBULANCE INSPECTION JUNE 22 The annual inspection of the Schreiber combined division, No.337, St.John Ambulance, will take place on Wednesday, June 22nd. The general pub- lic is invited to see this inspection. The inspecting party will consist of Provincial Commissioner Brig. Eric Snow, OBE., C.D., and O.St.John and provincial superintendent of Nurs- ing, Mrs.Earle, C.Morgan, both from Toronto head quarters. They will be assisted by Mr.Fred Farwell, S.St.John, provincial staff officer from Fort William Mrs.Helen Jartus, St.St.John, corps staff officer, Thunder Bay Corps of Schreib er. The annual Brigade banquet will be held imme- diately preceding inspection in the United Church Hall at 5.30 p.m. Following the banquet the general inspection will continued ....
