Page 4 THE NEWS May 5, 1966 FRIENDLY LADY CURLERS ELECT OFFICERS The annual spring wind-up meeting of the Ladies Curling Club was held in the club lounge on Monday, April 25th. With thirty-six members present the meeting was opened and presided over by O.Chapman. The treasurer's - financial report stated that the year 1965-66 had proceeded well with no outstanding expenditures and so left the term end with quite a substantial sum to start off the new season in the Fall. Reports from other chairmen representing the bonspiel, prizes, fund-raising events, kitchen, enter- t ainment, publicity and trophies were given and discussed. A lengthy discussion followed, in- golving the position of team players and resulted in some changes in-club rules. Some items such as type of play and spares will be left until the fall meeting for final decision. Club sweaters, sugyested colours of white with royal blue trim, were debated with no final decision - made. The purchase of some sweaters for club rep- resentatives in Northwestern playoffs will be looked into. Terrace Bay will be host to the Northwestern Playdowns for 1967. Following the meeting the new executive elec- tions took place. The executive for the year 1966- 67 are:- President, O.Chapman - Ist Vice, P. Kelty - 2nd Vice,-L.Gavin - Secretary, E.Burns - Treasurer, N .Crockford - Directors, A.Paulsen, B.Randa, S.Gusul, L.Shubaly and S.Dorman. Trustees nominated for the coming year were D. Josus and A.Latour. Auditors are D.Rafalant and B.McMillan. Prizes were pre sented to trophy winners and runners-up and several door prizes were drawn for. The evening ended with refreshments, lunch and chit-ch at. RN Dealer GUIDES TO SELL COOKIES MAY 9 In the absence of the Chairman, Mrs .Sylvia Duquette chaired the meeting of the Local Association to the Guides and Brownies on Monday, April 25th. Minutes and correspondence were read by Mrs. Betty Turner and the financial report was given by Mrs .Alice Farrow. The vice-chairman thanked Mrs .Hilda Hiebert who convened the most successful bake sale at Easter and also Mrs .Doreen Kurylo who organized the annual Mother and Daughter Banquet. Mrs .Helen Brooks reported the seven new Guider Uniforms which she has now received. Mrs .Glenna MacDonald announced that final arrangements had been made for the sale of cookies on Girl Guide Cookie Day which would take place this year on May 9th, the girls picking up their supply from the Recreation Centre after school on that day. Following the business meeting a delightful lunch was served by Mrs.Mary Bougeron and Mrs .Hilda Hiebert. CATHOLIC GIRLS" CLUB MEETS The Prayer for Teenagers opend the meeting held Sunday, April 24th following recitation of the Rosary in St.Martin's Church. The secretary and executive members gave their reports and President Diane Campbell called upon Mrs. M.Helmink to present Mrs.R.McBride, continued page 5 .....
