Clinic Hwrs are - April 29th and May 2nd - 2 p.m. to5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Recreation Centre. On May 4th the van will be at the Mill from 7 a.m. to ll a.m. and from 3p.m.to5p.m. It will be at the Recreation Centre the same day between 7 and 9 p.m. On May 5th it will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the evening - at the Rec. Centre. The guest speaker at Tuesday's meeting of the T.B.Survey Committee was Dr.R.R.Uzicanin who spoke interestingly on Tuberculosis facts. It costs approximately $30,000 to trace one case of active T.B. This arrives principally from the mass surveys carried out across Canada. At the beginning of the century there were 160 deaths for every 100,000. Today fewer than 5% contract the disease and in most cases early dianosis results in its arrest or cure. All treatment for a patient is free of charge. Following Dr.Uzicanin's talk canvassing material was distributed. Mrs.D.Bougie, census poll chair- man, then presented Dr.Kill-All and his staff. The shadow play was acted by Marie-Claire Coupal, Susan Graham and Linda Ballentyne. HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING The Terrace Bay Horticultural Society held its Spring Meeting last Friday at the Recreation Cenire . Two guest speakers were present. Mr.Coke, a nursery gardener from Port Arthur, brought with him a number of Begonias and Geraniums which were used as door prizes. Mr.Cook from Bruce Mines spoke briefly on the variance in the length of the growing season across Ontario. Membership Chairman H.Hermes reported that the Society has 184 paid up members. Junior Gardener Organizer C .Brant said that arrangements were made for Society members to test Boy Scouts on their Gardener's Proficiency Badge. Public Relations Chairman J.Steen asked that new members contact him before entries are made in the Fall Fair so that they may be entered correctly and members will not be disappointed by being eliminat- ed for faulty entries. Slides of perennials were shown at the end of the business meeting. Lunch and discussion followed. MOTHER AND DAUGHTER GUIDE BANQUET HELD Almost seventy mothers, daughters and Guide Leaders gathered in the Community Hall on Satur- day, April 23rd for the banquet catered by the Ladies Auxiliary to the Community Church. The Tobin and Trillium patrols sang the opening number "How Do You Do", addressed to the visitors and leaders. The words were their own. The Robins performed a skit on the fourth Guide Law--A Guide is A Friend To All. The Forget-me-not and Kingfisher patrols then sang three songs, and the Scarlet Tanagers presented a modern version of Cinderella which was most amus ing. At the close a film on Algonquin Park was shown, 'The Song of The Algonquin.' AFTERNOON AUXILIARY PLAN LUNCHEON Mrs. May Dorland presided at the regular monthly meeting held Monday, April 18th. Worship period was conducted by Mrs.R.Harris. For the Wind-up meeting May l6th, a pot luck luncheon will be held. 3 During the :work period used clothing and ap- pliances were packed for distribution among crippled civitians in Toronto. A delicious lunch was served by Helen Brooks and Betty Sweet. Slides will be shown at the May 2nd meeting of the evening Auxiliary of the Community Church. The June meeting will take place on May 30.
