This game | was very close with robust checking for the first two ] | periods and Terrace Bantams having a slight edge-- leading 2- 1. In the final period the effects of the long journey told on the West Kildonan squad and Terrace Bay pulled away to win 8 - 3. Wednesday morning saw the action moved to the bowling alley wh ere Terrace Bay were again the winners. After a lunch in the Recreation Centre the boys went at it again at the High School. Both basketball and Volleyball were played with the local boys again the winners. By scoring five points | for each event Terrace Bay were then leading 20 - Of During the afternoon both teams were taken on a tour of the town and mill sites. Mr.Neil Corn- thwaite acted as courier and at the Mill Mr.Jim MacDonald explained processes to the boys. They then visited both woodyard and dam. In the evening the hockey series resumed with a rejuvenated Winnipeg team winning 9 - 5. On Thursday the curlers took over and all four Winnipeg rinks won their events. Winnipeg then took a lead in the aggregate points by 25 - 20. | in every Province. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WEEK, APRIL 17 - 23 Chamber of Commerce Week will be observed across Canada April 17 - 23. The Theme is "Build- ing a Better Community". This will be the 9th year for observance of this special week. Prime Minister Pearson has said that | the effective work done by the Chambers of Com- | merce "in helping to build and maintain strong } Canadian communities as a basis for a strong Can- | adian nation, is recognized and appreciated by } governments at all levels." Another prominent leader has said: "Chambers | of Commerce serve a very important purpose in the communities in Canada where they exist. Through | them, business and industry have co-operated for i the general benefit. They have helped to attract | new industry and to give guidance to both local and national development." There are Chambers in more than 850 communities Special programs will inform citizens of the role these organizations play in pro- | moting progress through teamwork . CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING THURSDAY Basketball arid Volleyball continued in the afternoon The regular meeting of the Terrace Bay Chamber with Winnipeg again the victors. An exhibition game--Winnipeg versus Schreiber--was played in the evening with Schreiber winning 6 - 5. Friday morning was free for the visitors to explore the town at their leisure, some getting as far as Lake Superior. At noon the presentation of trophies ' took place in the Recreation Centre. Winnipeg West Kildonans won the "Tribune" trophy as the overall champs. As outstanding ath- lete, Ken Hinds of Winnipeg (Continued page 4) of Commerce will be held this Thursday in the large meeting room of the Recreation Centre at 7.30 p.m. All interested persons are cordially invited to attend.
