A fairly high percentage of the male population seems to be going in for them this season. It is possible that they want to look like the Fathers of Confederation instead of merely their grandsons or gréat- grandsons. Those men in the early photographs and paint- ings of Confederation proceedings had a great deal of statesmanship and determination in them. A country was established that, it has been said, had no right to exist. If the grandsons of Confederation are as smart as were their grandfathers, the country will survive and flourish for at least another hundred years. Happy the man, of mortals happiest he Whose quiet mind from vain desires is free Whom neither hopes deceive, nor fears torment, But lives at peace, within himself content.
