The Ida Romaniuk rink of Dene Clancy, Norma Crockford and Edyth Chard won fourth prize in the first event and their gifts were lovely purses. Con- gratulations to all. Anna and Bill McKie motored to Elliot Lake last weekend and took part in the O'Keefe mixed spiel held there. While not winning any prizes they had a lot of fun and renewed acquaintances. They re- turned Sunday evening. NURSES BRIDGE (Continued from page 8) Members of the nurses' group served a lovely lunch to conclude the evening. They express grateful appreciation to all who assisted in the project. GOLF NOTES Spring is really around the corner. The Terrace Bay Golf Committee held a meeting last Thursday with all members present. The agenda, besides the formation of this year's budget, included many projects which indicate another successful year with much progress in the way of facilities and con- veniences. The house purchased from the Department of Highways will be converted into a clubhouse con- taining washrooms, snack bar, pro shop and lounging quarters. The original clubhouse will be utilized for club storage. This convenience will undoubted- ly be most appreciated by many members. Despite rumors the membership fees will remain the same. To those who may wonder how long they can expect the present inexpensive fee, the execu- tive would like to advise that such fee is possible due to the voluntary work done by the community and the invaluable assistance by the Kimberly-Clark Company. They also wish to promote the sport by making it economically possible for anyone to par- ticipate. A considerable sum will be spent this year in fertilizing and seeding all fairways and greens plus, we hope, a putting green adjacent to number one tee, facing the old clubhouse. Now that the nine holes are completed and with instruction more available, encouragement will be given to increase participation by juniors and lady members . THE NEWS _ Page 10 A general meeting will shortly be announced for all ladies interested in forming a ladies' club. (see pages 2 and 4). At this meeting an election of offi- cers will be held and thus set the way for an organ- ized group to plan a much larger participation by the ladies during the coming summer. At this time of the year most golfers begin to feel the itch to play and daily look forward to signs of spring. To these and all other members we would like to say that your golf committee is putting forward every effort in careful planning to make this year in every way more enjoyable by a marked improvement in the course and the addition this year of facilities and conveniences which we had hoped to have installed best two years from now. MOOSE LADIES TO CONVENE BANQUET The Women of the Moose met Wednesday evening at the Moose Home with Senior Regent Marjorie Dejonghe presiding. The minutes were read by Recorder Barbara Dejonghe. Ann Didura is con- vening the Moose Bonspiel Curling Banquet to be held Saturday, February 26th at 6 p.m. At the close of the meeting lunch was served by the Hospital Chairman, Rose Dakin, and her com- mittee.
