WOMEN OF THE MOOSE MEET The Women of the Moose met Wednesday evening at the Moose Home. Senior Regent Marj. Dejonghe opened the meeting and Recorder Barbara Dejonghe read the minutes. One new member, Yvonne LeClair was welcomed into the Defending Circle also one guest, Mrs .Stevens from Fort William Chapter, was present. Rose Dakin, Hospital Chairman, and her committee, served a delicious lunch. Co-worker Barbara Dejonghe won the raffle. ST MARTIN'S C.W.L. MEETS The Catholic Women's League of St.Martin's Parish, Terrace Bay, held their monthly meeting on Sunday evening in the Church Hall, preceded by Recitation of the Rosary. Dean E.A.Gallagher opened the meeting with the League prayer. Mrs.M.Nichols chaired the meeting. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. L.Legault, and minutes and correspondence was read by secretary Mrs .A.Regis. A letter was received from the Ladies Auxiliary to the Community Church, inviting all ladies of St. Martin's to attend the World Day of Prayer and a Panel Discussion on Monday evening, March 7th when Dean Gallagher will be their guest in the Community Church Hall. Various convenors reported and an article on "What Citizenship means to us" was read by Mrs. W.Corri- gan. Mrs.G.Savoy gave a talk on Education and the Spiritual Convenor, Mrs.G .Dashkewytch, spoke on the season of Lent. Special thanks were given to Mrs.L.Legault for the wonderful work she did on the float for the Snow Festival which had received honorable mention. The Mother and Daughter Brownie Banquet which is scheduled for March 26th will be catered to by Mrs .L.Legault. Guest for the evening was Mr.Cruickshank, Sr. who showed slides of Scotland taken on a trip last fall. At the close of the meeting Dean Gallagher im- parted his blessings and 'Holy God we Praise Thy Name' and 'O Canada' were sung. Lunch was served | by Mrs.L McBride and her committee. Continued P.10 SUCCESSFUL SWEETHEART BONSPIEL HELD The Ladies Curling Club of Terrace Bay held a Sweetheart Bonspiel over the weekend which proved to be a great success with a full capacity of sixteen rinks. The ladies took a step forward and skipped the mixed bonspiel and great fun in curling was had by all. . The first event was won by the Mary Dashkewytch rink with Bob Roberts third, Olive Martin second and Vic Fenton lead. Runner-up in this close com- petitive event was the Lois Shubaly rink of Jack Chapman third, Helen Farrell second and Ken Chard lead. The second event was won by the Louise Gavin rink of Len Crockford, Donna Josus and Cliff Knauff. Runner-up was the rink skipped by Aggie Sinkins with Tom Latour, Gayle Rose and Heinz Schmiedschen. Saturday evening a well attended and lively dance was held in the Club Lounge with music provided by Flash Burke, piano and Herb Gellert accordion. The hall was decorated in the Valentine day motif. This was a combined affair held with the spiel social and a farewell party put on by friends of Marge and Doug Knight who left on Sun- day to make their home in Prince George, B.C. Novelty prizes were given to winners of the first rink out of the spiel. Geo.Dashkewytch won a prize for having six hearts for hocking the rocks. The largest, medium and smallest ends (speaking literally) were also given prizes. The door prize was won by Benny Hayes.
