WOMEN'S INSTITUTE MEETS. The regular meeting of the Women's Institute was opened with the ode and Mary Stewart collect. The roll call was answered Jwith a child's toy. Mrs. Wesley Miller pres- ided at the meeting, and extended Christmas greetings to the members. The card secretary reported nine sympathy cards, six birthday, and 15 get well cards, and small gifts sent to members, Money was set aside to buy baby food and a grocery hamper sent to a needy family. The annual banquet was planned for Jan. 19th, a social evening and exchange of gifts followed. Following adjournment a penny 8 auction was held, and lunch was served. '| Mrs. Innes West was in Arnprior to attend the funeral of an uncle. Mrs. R. E. Grey was called to Whitney, Ont. by the death of her brother-in-law, Dr. G, Post. Mrs Irene Geary attended her brother's funeral in Montreal. The sympathy of the community is extended to these families. Mrs. S. E, Stewart has returned to Fort William after a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Dan Ray. Mr. and Mrs. D. Jones of Ottawa were the guests of the Nelson Smith family recently. Carol Holmes spent the holidays with her parents. She has been on staff at St. Joseph!" Hospital, Port Arthur, and is leaving to join the staff of Western Hospital, Toronto. Jeanne McCuaig and a Lou Karns spent Christmas in London. Miss Edna McColeman, R. N, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan spent Christmas with her mother Mrs. Peter McColeman and brother Archie Janet Clemens, student nurse at the Pt, Arthur General School of Nursing spent holidays with her parents. Mr. & Mrs. Wallace Weaver and son Donny o Kamloops, B.C. visited the former's parents Mr. & Mrs. V. Weaver for the holiday season. Mr. & Mrs. A. Cosgrove have their daughte Mantell and friend Carlotta Aguirre of Mexico who are attending St. Mary's Academy in North Bay as their guests. Mrs. J. D. McCoshen of Ft. William visited her daughter Mrs. Hiliary O'Brien. Boyer Gagnon was home from Ft. William to spend Christmas with his parents Mr. & Mrs. J. P. Gagnon. Mr. & Mrs. Oscar Laine went to the Soo to spend Christmas with Mr. & Mrs. Dick Remi- lard and their family. Mrs. A. Rumley of Wiarton spent Christmas with her daughter Mrs. Jack Bryson and family. Mr. & Mrs. Michael Dorken and infant daughter of Toronto spent the Christmas holiday with Mrs. Dorken's mother, Mrs. Lillian - >: hristie,. Mr. & Mrs. W. Clemens have Miss Lora Cook of Toronto visiting with them. Rev. and Mrs. D. F. Muldrew and family are in Winnipeg visiting with both their parents. Jack Whent is a patient in McKellar Hospital. Cathy Pike, who is leaving Schreiber with her parents, was guest of honor at a farewell party held in the Anglican Church hall by her classmates, Around thirty attended. Cathy was presented with a sweater and their best wishes. Games and dancing were enjoyed and a hearty lunch was served. Following the Christmas evening service in St. Andrew's United Church, Rhonda Christy, infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Dorken, was christened by Rev. D. F. Muldrew. Mrs. Fields was born in Toronto and fol- lowing her marriage in 1910 to George C. Fields, she resided in Schreiber for 52 years, leaving in 1962 to become a resident of the Canadian Institute for the Blind. She was predeceased by her husband in 1945, Surviving are a sister Mrs. H.J. Paisley of Vancouver, B.C., a brother H, F, Kyle, of Toronto; a niece Mrs. R. Alcorn, Ft. William, a nephew Ted Kyle of Toronto. Attending the service from out of town were Mr. & Mrs. W.R. Alcorn, Miss Ruth Alcorn and George Sanderson, all of Ft. William. RUBY _REBEKAH HOLD REGULAR MEETING Presiding for the regular meeting of the Ruby Rebekah Lodge were Mrs. Mary Husband, Noble Grand and Mrs. Bern Whent, Vice Grand. In the correspondence were many Christmas cards from out of town members. It was decided to hold a card party following the next meeting on January 12th with invited guests. Mrs. D. Ridsdale who is leaving Schreiber was presented with a gift by Mrs. Agnes Bryson on behalf of the Lodge. i Carols were sung with Mrs. Bryson at the piano. Games were played and many prizes awarded and there was an exchange of gifts. This was con- vened by Mrs. Mary Husband and Mrs. Helen | Wallace.
