Mrs. Bailey, nee Annie (Nance) Chambers, was born in Selly Oak, Birmingham, England, 84 years ago. In 1908 she came to Canada to meet Raymond Bailey in Quebec City where their marriage took place and they came immediately to Schreiber where they have made their home ever since. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the O.E.S. Silver Birch Chapter, Terrace Bay, of which she was secretary. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Women's Institute ,and for many years member and later chairman of both the Public School Board and the Continuation School Board. She organized the first Schreiber girl guide troop, accompanying members to gatherings as far away as Vancouver. Mrs. Bailey was an ardent and particularly skilled gardener, and during the war, grew and sold flowers donating the money realized to the funds organized by both Queen Elizabeth and Lady Churchill for bombed-out victims. The letters in acknowledgment of her efforts from both the Quee and Lady Churchill were among her prized possessiong. In 1939 when the Royal train made a stop in Schreibe Mrs. Bailey with her husband was presented to the King and Queen. Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, two sons, Raymond of Ottawa and Reginald of Schreiber, five grandchildren, two sisters, Miss Elsie Chambers presently in Schreiber and Mrs. May Orpe, and a brother Reginald Chambers, all of Birmingham. The family requested no flowers with tributes going instead to the Cancer Fund. The funeral was held on Friday, November 12, at 2.15 in St. Andrew's United Church, conducted by Rev. D. F. Muldrew. Miss Diane Rummery was the organist and the hymns chosen were "Our Blest Redeemer" and "The Strife is O'er". The pallbearers were F.V.Harness, George Birch, C. Sparkes, Geoff. Birch, A.H. Farrow and J. Beddard. Interment was in Schreiber cemetery. Prior to the church service, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge held their last rites in the Gawley Funeral Home. Representatives of the Kinsmen and Kinettes and six leaders of the Brownies and Girl Guides at- tended the service in special groups. Attending the service from out of town were Mr. & Mrs. R. Bailey of Ottawa, Miss Elsie Chambers of Birmingham, England, Mrs. G. Bailey, Irving Bailey Mr. & Mrs. D. Burnside, Mr. & Mrs. W.R. Black and Mr. & Mrs. G. Moore of Ft.
