November 18, 1965 ; Page 9 TERRACE BAY HIGH SCHOOL The Terrace Bay High School Board has applied to Council for approval of a debenture issue to expand the facilities of the High School. Council met with the High School Board to discuss the proposed addition and at a subsequent Council meeting approved the application of the Board. WHY NECESSARY 1. More facilities are needed for additional numbers of students. Continuous growth is indicated over the next 5 years. More diversified facilities required to offer improved modern educational program. - The present Terrace Bay curriculum is too limited to satisfy students needs in modern society. - Must keep all students in High School as long as possible i.e. - reduce drop out rate. PLANNED PROGRAM 1. 4 years of the 5 Year Arts and Science Course. 2. 4 years of the 4 Year Arts and Science Course. The above programs are recommended by the Department of Education. The addition of these two courses provide maximum flexibility for the future. FACILITIES REQUIRED 3 Classrooms 1 Industrial Arts Shop 1 Commercial Room Additional Washroom Facilities Guidance Offices Administration Offices Teachers Room A PUBLIC MEETING will be held THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 18, at 8 P.M. at the High School to explain this program in detail to all interested citizens.
