THE FUNERAL RITES CONDUCTED IN SCHREIBER The funeral of the late John (Jack) Corbett whose death occurred at the age of 78 on October |7, was conducted on Oc October 20 by Rev. _R.J.S.Inshaw in St. John's Anglican Church under the auspices of Terrace Bay Masonic Lodge and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. The hymns chosen were Unto the Hills and Breathe on Me Breath of God. Honorary pallbearers were F .Macadam, H.Stewart, N.Smith, Geo.Duncan, B.Simon, J.Rattray, W. Thrower, E.Holmes, M.Winters, G.Krause, W.R. Black (Fort William) and J.Carmichael (Arnprior). The active pallbearers were J.Winters, D.Beno, G. Riley Jr., F.Harness, K.Davis, A.Morris and Chas. Holmes. Interment was in Schreiber cemetary. Mr .Corbett is survived by his wife, two daughters, Katherine (Mrs.T.Whitton), Betha (Mrs.W. Miller), four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, all of Schreiber; two sisters, Mrs.Geo.Bailey of Fort William and Mrs.Geo.Smith of Victoria, also numer- ous relations in the immediate district. Mr .Corbett, who came to Schreiber in 1907 from England, and entered the CPR service as a trainman, had played an active part in local affairs. He was a member of the municipal council, a 32nd degree Mason and, during twenty-three years as local treas- urer of the B.of R.T., had handled over three quarter million dollars in various dues. For ten years, in addition to being their treasurer, he was also local 'griver' for the B.of R.T., discharging the office without fear or favor. Jack was an accomplished pianist and, in earlier days, provided dance music for Schreiber, Rossport, Jackfish and White River on many memorable occasions. Prior to the Church Service the Masonic Funeral Rites took place in Gawley Funeral Home. NEWS < VOWS EXCHANGED IN HOLD ANGELS CHURCH Pink and white carnations adorned Holy Angies Roman Catholic Church on October |6 for the mar- riage of Josephine, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Guiseppe Speziale and Peter Commisso, son of Mr.and Mrs. Francesco Commisso of Italy. Father J.M.Cano of- ficiated. Miss Carol Lalonde was organist and Giovanni Cebrario the soloist. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length sheath of nylon shear over satin with embroidered lace medallions. A fitted jacket, with full elbow length sleeves, was buttoned in front and the back held a full sheer train. Her half- length double veil of silk illusion was held by jewel- led petal centre and she carried a full spray of American Beauty roses. The bride's attendants, Mrs.James Speziale as matron of honor, in green, Miss Anna Figliomeni, Miss Frances Speziale and Miss Linda Sisson, brides- maids, and Julie Speziale and Adrea Commisso, flower girls, were all in gold. The peau de soie gowns were fashioned in floor length semi-empire mode with small inverted pleats at sides, above whic were bands of heavy lace accenting a princess panel from neckline to hem. They wore flyaway veils matching their gowns and matching slippers. They carried snowball bronze mums. Groomsmen were Jim Commisso, Joe Figliomeni, Jim Figliomeni and Nick Commisso. The wedding dinner, reception and dance in the evening were held in the Town Hall. Mrs.Speziale received in a beige lace gown with hat and acces- sories in brown and Mrs.Philip Figliomeni, sister of the groom, who assisted in receiving, chose a cafe au lait suit with hat and accessories in brown. Both had corsages of white feathered carnations. Mr.and Mrs .Commisso went west for their honey- moon, the bride travelling in a red suit with black accessories and she had a corsage of white carnations They will make their home in Schreiber. Attending the wedding from out of town were Miss Frances Speziale, Winnipeg; Mr.and Mrs .Cosimo Figliomeni, Mr.and Mrs.Cosimo Crupi and son, Mr. and Mrs.Bruno Amadeo of Marathon and Mr.Carlo Lombardo of Fort William. Mr.and Mrs.Leo Beaucage, Mr.and Mrs.Ernie Beau-| - cage, Mr.and Mrs .Robt.Guillet with their families, arrived from Port Arthur on Sunday to attend a dinner party in the home of Mr.and Mrs.Walter Guillet in honor of the latter's parents, Mr.and Mrs.Eudore Roy of Prince Albert. Later in the afternoon Mrs.Gerry Thrower (Evelyn Guillett) entertained the eight grand- | children at a joint birthday party for her sons Michael and Craig, when there were I7 other small guests..Mr. and Mrs .Roy attended this lively event long enough to have a piece of the mammoth birthday cake. >t.Andrew's United Church Couples' Club held the first social of the year as a masquerade on Saturday evening. Square dancing was the program with Jack Handel lending a hand as instructor. Costume prizes went to Mrs.Charlie Pike as an old lady and Bill Tripp as an unlikely angel.
