INITIATION '65 FROM NEUTRAL GROUND by Cathy Joe Cotton Being neither the Initiate or the Initiator, | think | can write on this topic without being too prejudiced This initiates this year, as always, were all the grade nine students and any new student of Terrace Bay High School, and much credit must be given to each one of them for taking their "punishments" so ungrudgingly. Being put through these tasks they were good natured as their initiators, grades eleven -- and twelve students made their officious demands. From the very beginning of Initiation which started at a dance Friday night when the slaves were assign- ed masters, they lived in a state of suspense, fear- ful of the worst. But, as time progressed and Initiates became more familiar with their masters, the tension slowly began to disappear, although they were still wary of the notices frequently being handed out by Student Council president, Jim Mikus, for Initiators to have 'demerit' points in the suggestion box by Thursday. Sighs of relief were audible Monday mor- ning as Jim Mikus announced that demerit points were onl y to determine the most deserving boy and girl initiate. This year the two chosen were Mary Jane Hopper and Graham Coe. For their good work each was the recipient of a highschool ring (compli- ments of Students Council). A switch this year, the initiators were given a taste of their own medicine Monday afternoon as their slaves were given a chance to trade places. -- They tried to pack into half a day all and more that their masters had demanded of them in three. But now the tension is lifted and grade niners can breathe freely. REGIONAL MEETING (Continued from col .1) in social work, graduate work in education and lib- rary science. The members were then divided into groups for five minute discussion on "What you expect from a Regional Meeting" and "What you expect to gain from a Diocesan convention". The Marathon group proposed the vote of thanks to Schreiber and the meeting closed with prayers.
