REGIONAL TOUR STARTED BY CWL PRESIDENT Starting September |3 and continuing until Sept. 17, Reverend R.A.Carey, Acting Director of the Fort William Diocesan Counei], The Catholic Wo- men's League of Canada, and Mrs.F.A.Helmink, Diocesan President, will tour the Western Section of the Diocese, holding Regional Meetings at Ati- kokan, Emo, Rainy River, Kenora, Balmertown, Dryden and Sioux Lookout. The aims of the tour are to encourage better understanding of League Work and to help Parish Councils solve any local Catholic Women's League problems. One of the main topics for discussion will be the Fort William Diocesan Council's participation in the Catholic Women's League National Centennial Pro- ject - "The Establishment of a Voluntary Fund to support the Vanier Institute of the Family." The National Council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada hopes to raise $1,000,000 by voluntary donations from League members. The Liberal Committees in -- this district were the first to present their candidate in the forthcoming federal election. Already Bob Andras of Port Ar- thur has appeared: at meetings in both Schreiber and Terrace Bay. Harvey Carmichael of Schreiber heads the Liberal Committee in that Town and Joe Kennedy the com- mittee in Terrace Bay. | During his trips to this district Mr.Andras was ac- companied by his wife, his campaign manager Bob Marcinek, Mr.Ruth Middleton, Mrs.Angela Hender- son, Mrs. Jessie Spooner and Bill Cavanaugh. LAKE TROUT BINGO PLANNED IN ROSSPORT The Altar Society of St.John Berchman's Church in Schreiber are sponsoring a Bingo on Friday, Sept. 7th at 8 p.m. when prizes will be 5 Ib. (average) lake trout.
