Friday evening a stag was held for Jim at the home of Tom Battershill when a departing gift was presented to him by his friends. GOLF NEWS Last Saturday the Geraldton golf course was in- vaded by twelve golfers from Terrace Bay. The reaso was, of course, the tournament held there th at day. Bob Adamo, Jack Phillips and Bill Hanley did very well and came out with good prizes. Thor Olsen was top money winner, doing very well with the side bets The nine holes are finally completed on the local course and everyone is quite pleased with them. w Emile is doing a terrific job in making this course second to none in the district. A reflection of the board of governor's appreciation of this fine work can be seen in the erection of new quarters for Emile and his family. A three bedroom cottage is now be- ing erected with the assistance of voluntary workers. When completed it will present a fine appearance and will be greatly appreciated by the Stokoluks. A certain amount of landscaping is now being done and the gravel pathways from greens to tees are quite becoming. The new tees are now completed and they will prove quite interesting plus further challenge to the par players. The improvements in the course this year are quite satisfying and is reflected in the large increase in green fees over last year. Since the Pro's cottage erection is to be done by voluntary work it is hoped that members will turn out to assist. So far only a handfull have shown any in - terest. If this is an indication of what help can be expected when building the club house next year then the club will have to reconsider the proposed project. Let us show some interest by contacting Jack Phillips and submitting our names as willing to help. --<$<$<$<$ ------------------_______-- aXe Don Whitley left Terrace Bay last month to take up his new position in Eureka, California. His wife Fay and children expect to join him next week. Before Don left a party was held for them at the summer camp of Norma and Len Crockford, White Sand Lake. A social evening was enjoyed and a poem, fitting the occasion and written by Jack Todd, was read by Jack Caccamo. On behalf of the friends present Fay and Don received a painting by Mary Middaugh of the scene from Hydro Hill. Fay's bridge club presented her with a parting gift of hand-crafted earrings when they met last at the horje home of Fern MacDonald. A Stag was held for Don at the home of Dave Whalen when his shift workers presented him with golf clubs and their good wishes.
