Vol.8, No.32 | Serving the District August 12, 1965 DEPENDENT'S AGE UPPED BY HOSPITAL SERVICES Beginning September Ist, dependent children will be covered by Ontario Hospital Insurance under the "family" premium until they reach their 21st birthday. An official announcement of the change, which was first mentioned by Dr.M.B.Dymond, Minister of Health, in the Legislature on June 7th, will be pub- lished by the Ontario Hospital Services Commission this week. The age change will also apply to the Blue Cross and CUMBA semi-private coverage for which about one-third of the insured residents remit additional premiums through the Commission . Dr.John B.Neilson, Chairman of the Commission, indicated that the new age limit is being introduced because of th e increasing number of students among young people in this age group. He added that only unmarried, unemployed children are eligible for coverage as dependants under their parents or guar dian's insurance and that separate premiums must be paid when the dependant reaches age 21, or marries, or becomes regularly employed. However, Dr. Neilson did explain that exemption is provided for students who take temporary employment during their school vacations. The annual reduction in premium income to the Commission, due to the new age limit, is estimated at $3.5 million. Photo by G.Cotton SWIM MEET HELD HERE SATURDAY Swimmers and spectators lined the deck of the Swimming Pool Saturday afternoon as the annual swim meet got underway. As the many swimming and diving events concluded the winners to tally up high points were announced with Norma Chesley to receive the outstanding female swimmer trophy for 23 points and Bob McMillan outstanding male swim- mer trophy for 22 points. Others were Candice Neely I7 points, Bob Morres 10 points, Mary Pat McLeod 9 points and Maurice Cadieux 8 points. First and second place winners will represent Terrace Bay in the North Shore Championships at Red Rock next Saturday, August 14. Individual win- ners were as follows: Breaststroke: Girls 14 and under - Norma Chesley, Candice Neely, Patsy Thorpe. Boys - Bob Morres, Albert Cadieux, Paul Dakin. Girls 10 and under - Sheila St.Louis, Theresa Ramsey, Nettie St.Louis. Boys - Ricky Hamilton and Maurice Cadieux. Boys 16 and under - Errol Morres, Bob McMillan, Albert Cadieux. Girls 12 and under - Mary Pat McLeod, Gail Simmer, Judy Dakin. Girls Open - Norma Chesley, Candice Neely, Judy Dakin. Boys Open - Bob McMillan, Bob Morres, Albert Cadieux. Diving - Judging were Arlene Coates, Gordon Pike and Doug Groth. Girls 14 and under - Norma Ches- ley, Joanne Stevens. Boys - Paul Dakin, Graham Coe, David Drake.
