Councillor Thompson asked who ap- proved Building Permits and all Coun- cillors agreed that though these were nominally given by the Building Inspec tor and Electrical Supt., Council should be kept aware of those th at are granted and for what. Councillor Thompson also raised: the question of the legal aspect of property owned by H.Lohr on Laurier Avenue which, though in a residential area, is solely a business and income proper- ty. The situation will be investigated. Reporting for the Recreation Com- mittee, Councillor Thompson indicated that a long-range development plan is in progress to make all facilities avail- able for more projects and groups. A meeting with J.Reid on the Centennial Project resulted in other proposals be- ing dropped in favour of an Adult Study Lounge in conjunction with the Recrea- tion Centre--providing the necessary property can be acquired. Councillor Fraser discussed the pro- blem of cleaning up in the Shopping Plaza and said Councillor Brown had approached proprietors of the various businesses.
