Wit an estimate of $410,383 required and an income of $73,497, there remained $336,886.28 to Le raised by taxation, as: General Residential 15.45 mills, com- mercial 18.31 mills, Public School residen:ia! 11.96 mills - commercial 13.28 mills, Hign School residen- tia! 18.43 - commercial 20.48 miils, Separate School residential 12.95 - commercial 14.38 mills, Town 19.89 mills. Total Public School mill rate residential 65.73 - commercial 71.96, Separate School residen- tial 66.72 - commercial 73.06. Due rates of June 25 and August 25th were set with a fine of I/2 of 1% levied per month on unpaid installments. Councillor Cavanaugh requested general clearing o Lakeview since it would not be extended this year as anticipated and Councillor Brown was delegated to attend to this matter. Three letters were read, ac- knowledging complaint regarding the Department of Lands and Forests undeveloped property on Lakeview Drive. Councillor Cavanaugh reported men were now at work there, clearina the brush. The Children Aid Scciety wrote with regard to office and home space in lerrace Bay, seeking a more central district location. The Superior Corps Sea Cadets wrote expressing appreciation to the Township for permission to parade last weekendyto the Police for their assistance on the Parade route. Reeve Adamo reported to Council on his meeting with the Governor General and Mrs. Vanier in the Lakehead, remarking on their gracious manner and wonderful representatives of our Country. The Reeve sought an appointment with Mr. G. Wardrope, M.P. for the coming week. Councillor Cavanaugh was appointed delegate to the Mayor and Reeves Convention in Kitchener. Reeve Adamo expected to be able to attend a portion of the Convention. Councillor Brown reported a condition at the Ceme- tery which he felt necessitated having cribbers made. A re-survey was proposed by Councillor Thompson to correct the situation, as he felt there should be adequate land available. Money had been alloted in the budget for a new road to the cemetery, Councillo Cavanaugh noted, and this should cover the re-survey as well. A reply from Gibson Motors arranged for repairs or maintenance to the Police Cruiser to be handled by Mr. J. Adamo. The new spray machine was reported on by Council- lor Brown and a battery replacement will be ordered from the supplier. Councillor Brown made enquiries regarding the distance of parking allowed under the Department of Highways Act and this will be investigated. LEGION NEWS (Cont'd) presided over by Mrs. H. Solly. Minutes were read by Mrs. J. Fisher and the financial statement by Mrs. H. Gusul. The Cribbage tournament was won this year by Mrs. D. Plourde, who received the Trophy during the meeting. Mrs. J. Mercier won the pot of Gold. The evening closed with luncheon served by Mesdames E. Falzetta, S. Benko and A. Daley. There will be an Executive meeting, June 10th, at 8:00 P.M. in the home of Mrs. D. Coupal. The Ladies Auxiliary will hold their June meeting, Monday evening June 7th, at 8:15, in the Community Church. Guest speaker at the meeting will be Mrs. R. Uzicanin, who will talk on her life in Pakistan. JUNIOR GARDENERS Any member who didn't receive their Junior Gar- dener seeds may get them from Mr. W. Anderson at 458 Fort Garry Road. SOCIAL NEWS "Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Brown visited with their neice Marge Anderson and family enroute from New Bruns- wick to their home in Kelowna, BC. Mrs. Mabel Storey left Tuesday for an extended visit in Beamsville, Ont. to see old friends and her daughter Mrs. David Chenoweth in Warren, Ohio. Frank Schock,on leave from the Army in Shilo, Manl. is visiting many of his friends in Terrace Bay while a guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. Mallais. Mr. and Mrs. J. Wellings are home from three weeks vacationing at the West Coast. They visited Jack's son Norris in Vancouver and many of the forme Terrace Bay residents now living on Vancouver Island, who send greetings to all their old friends. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. F. Ford this past week have been their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. D. Hicks and family of Long Island, N.Y. also thei son Edward from Saskatoon and daughter K. Anderson from Irquois Falls. ; Miss Denise Roy, whose marriage to Mr. Johan Terpstra will take place August 28th, in Port Arthur, was the surprised guest of honor Monday evening at a Miscellaneous Shower in the High School. Seated in a decorated chair, Miss Roy was assisted with her gifts by two other members of the High School Staff, Mrs. J. Coons and Mrs. M. Hofland, and received a great variety of lovely presents. Sixty-five High School girls attended the Shower which had been arranged by the girls of the Students' Council. Luncheon was served to conclude the evening. ART CLUB NEWS The Terrace Bay Art Club will hold their regular business meeting on Thursday, June 3rd, in the Arts Centre at 8:00 P.M. All members are requested to attend this meeting. Lunch will be served. HUNTER SAFETY CLASS Part four of the Hunter Safety will be held Friday, June 4th, at the Recreation Centre, at 7:00 P.M. L.A. TO ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION MEET The Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, ' Branch 223, met Sunday evening in the Legion Hall &
