Photo by Inez McCuaig HONORED ON TWENTY-FIVE YEAR PRIESTHOOD Rev .Joseph M.Cano, pastor of Holy Angel's Roman Catholic Church, Schreiber, was honored by parishioners and friends at a reception and dinner to mark the celebration of his twenty-five years in the Priesthood on May I8. Participating in the anniversary Mass celebrated by Rev.Cano were the Very Rev.£.A.Gallagher of Terrace Bay and Rev.A.R.Greengrass of Marathon, as Deacon and Sub-Deacon. Rev. G.H.Bourguig- non of Fort William was Master of Ceremonies and the address was given by Rev.A.B.Carroll of Fort William. The Color Guard of the 4th Degree Assem- bly of the Knights attended and special music was provided by the junior and senior choir. Following Mass the program for the day included a luncheon for the family at the Superior Dining Room, and a luncheon for visiting clergy in the. Guild Hall . Parishioners and friends thronged the Guild Hall to offer good wishes at the public reception in the afternoon. Receiving with Rev.Cano were Mrs. Herbert Legault of Rossport and Mrs .Arnold O'Keefe. A beautiful birthday cake, flanked by candles, centred the tea table and tea was poured by Mesd. Chas .Todesco of Rossport, H.Carroll of Fort William, Melvin Nicol of Terrace Bay, Wm.Cocks, P.J. McGrath and P.J.LeBlanc. Ladies of the parish served the guests. One hundred and seventy invited guests attended a dinner in the high school auditorium when H.P. Bourguignon was chairman. After a lengthy discussion Council decided the township will assume all responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the chlorination equipment required' for the water with the costs to be shared equally with the CPR. The employees'benefit plan was discussed and Councill will participate in a program with PSI "Blue Plan" and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company with the employees and township to pay 50% of the costs. Kimb erly-Clark Pulp & Paper Company notifed that no public traffic will be permitted south of camp 58 or north of camp 12. The Dept .of Highways recommended installing a 50 m.p.h.speed limit from the beginning of the 40 m.p.h.zone at the west end of town to the narrows at Walker Lake. Spadoni Bros .requested permission to connect to the sewage line on Winnipeg street. As this line is the property of the public school the Clerk is to arrange a meeting with the Board to discuss the mat- ter. W.L.Wardrope and Associates wrote setting out three proposals in connection with alterations to the rink. Letters of appreciation were received from L.R. Smith, vice-president CPR., V.E.Everitt, Division Superintendent and Miss Aileen Johnson, Winnipeg, for the excellent work done by the town ambulance at the time of the derailment on April 17. A letter of appreciation was sent to Bob Krause who drove the ambulance. Waterworks account of $80.77 and general accounts totalling $5,593.27 were ordered paid. Police accounts were presented and found in order.
