Leaders in Youth Rally Photo by 1.McCuaig YOUTH RALLY SUCCESSFUL ber Gospel Mission and St.Andrew's United Church was most successful, attended by groups from both Fort William and Marathon. The services were led by Billy Bray, Jack Randel, and Larry Goldberg of the Moody Bible School of Chicago, Ill. Rev. D.F.Muldrew was the host in the United Church and Ronald Sheffield in the Gos- pel Mission. Mr .Bray is a direct descendent of the famous | English Evangelist of the same name. Many older people attended some of the services to enjoy the spirited hymn singing. LEGION AUXILIARY PLAN ANNIVERSARY Mrs .Bill Paradis presided for the May meeting of the ladies auxiliary to the Canadian Legion, Br.109. Mrs .Andrea Hill, Mrs.Beverley Ann Himes and Mrs. Frances Crawley were received into membership. Word from the Legion gave assurance that the club room would be closed to men at 4 p.m., on May 15, the day of the auxiliary's anniversary din- ner party. During the evening a party will be held with guests invited. The Legion granted permission to the auxiliary to present a scholarship at High School Commencement- the basis for the award to be decided after a meeting with the award committee of the school. The recent rummage sale was reported as most suc- cessful. An invitation was received from White River auxiliary to attend their anniversary dinner meeting. G.Ball, district representative, both accepted invi- ations to Schreiber dinner meeting. Mrs .D .Gunter reported on the Auxiliary ws continued .. 13, The Youth Rally conducted last week in the Schrei- Mrs.J.Banks, first vice-president and Mrs. 1965 ANNUAL MEETING, TUBERCULOSIS ASSOC. The East Thunder Bay Tuberculosis Association held its annual meeting Sunday afternoon in the YMCA board room. There was a gratifying attendance of members from other points and interested guests, in- cluding E.J.O'Brien of Toronto, Mrs.S.Baxter, Mrs. E.Stilwell, Mrs.Wm.Hollsworth of Marathon, Mrs. John Ferrier of Terrace Bay, Mrs.Wm.Carmody, Mrs .D.McGinnis and Miss Mary Gentile of Nipigon, Dr.McPherson of the district Health Unit and Les Jones, rehabilitation office, both of Port Arthur, Mrs .D .Leadbeater and Mrs.L.Olson of White River. Mrs.1.P.Whent presided for the meeting with Mrs.N.A.McCuaig reading minutes and correspon= dence and L.R.McCuaig presenting the Treasurer's report. A donation was received from the Wellington County Tuberculosis and Health Assoc., to assist with the mass chest survey, and a commendation for the effort being made by the E.T.B.Association. The reason for future seal contributions being re- turned to a central bank rather than in the places where donations are made was explained as being simply a cost-saving :method. Nominating committee chairman, Mrs.J.Ferrier, presented a slate of officers for this year which was accepted as read:- President - Mrs.T.P.Whent, Ist vice-president - Mrs.K.S.Davis, 2nd vice-president Mrs .L.R.McCuaig, Chairmen:- Mrs.W.G .Furlonger case finding, social service and rehabilitation; Mrs. R.G.Macadam, education; L.R.McCuaig, honorary treasurer; Mrs.Bruce Lidkea, seal sale; Dr. G.D. Searles and Dr.J.M.McCausland, medical advisory; N.A.McCuaig and L.R.McCuaig, mass survey. Dr ..McPherson commended the association on their interest and effort in the fight against T.B., and thanked them for the assistance given the Health Unit in a recent survey. Dr .Searles said that, although a newcomer to Schreiber, he was aware of the contribution made to public health by the E.T.B.A., and would always be ready to assist them. Les Jones spoke on visiting patients in the Fort William San. Of ten correspondence courses given six were completed. Personaility and aptitude tests are still being done and home visits increased.
