« April 15,1965 TERRACE BAY FIGURE SKATING CLUB The Terrace Bay Figure Skating Club ended its 1964-65 season with a busy three days. Friday, Saturday ard Sunday found the girls and our one boy, Terry Delaronde in the midst of tests. We were most fortunate to have our Betty Bouchard, who is a Gold Test Judge, along with Mrs. G. Wilkins and Sand- ford Jone from the Port Arthur Figure Skating on hand for the judging on Sunday. Mrs. Bouchard acted as Referee with Mrs. Wilkins & Mr. Jone judging -- trial judges were Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Evans-Smith, Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Hayes. Premliminary Tests - were passed by the Sit owing Linda ete" Lisa Lafontaine, Cathy Ginn, Jane Chopty, Anita and Alice Stuart, Marilyn MacDonald. Ist Tests were passed by Mary Pat McLeod, Cathy West and Joan Belliveau. 3rd Tests were passed by Terry Delaronde and Shirley Phillips. 4th Tests were passed by Marcia Hamilton and Linda Hayes. These two girls are now Silver Medalists. They were also successful in passing their Bronze Free Skating and Senior Bronze Dance test. The following girls passed Preliminary Dance tests- Dutch Waltz - Brooke Rapke, Lise Lafontaine, Mary Pat McLeod and Joan Belliveau . Canasta Tango - Rosemary Pattison, Mary Pat McLeod and Joan Belliveau Swing - Cathy West, Rosemary Pattison Junior Bronze Dances Willow Waltz - Terry Delaronde, Linda Hayes Ten - Fox - Linda Hayes and Laura Hartman Our professional, Mrs. Ivy Pattison is to be con- gratulated on the success of the club. | am sure we all agree we hav e had a tremendous year. Mrs. Bouchard is again to be thanked for her time spent "behind the scenes" as Referee, it is a long, time consuming job and one which few of us can do. C.W.L. MEET The monthly meeting of St. Martin's Council of the Catholic Women's League was held Sunday evening, April 11th , at 8:00 P.M. in the Parish Hall, pre- ceded by the Recitation of the Rosary. Very Rev. Dean E.A. Gallagher opened the meeting with the League prayer. Mrs. M. Nicol chaired the meeting. The Treasurer's report was read by Mrs. L. Legault. Mrs. G. Savoy, Secretary read the minutes of the last meeting and also the correspondence. A_ letter of thanks has been received form Sister Ruth Marie O'Donnell who is doing Mission work in Hong Kong, for the donation given to her when she visited in Terrace Bay. Tickets are now on sale for the Martha Logan Cook ing School sponsored by Costa's and which will be held April 28th in the High School Auditorium. The ladies were reminded of The Feast of Our Lady of Good Counsel, on April 26th. The outstanding committees gave their reports. Two delegates will attend the convention to be held in Kenora in May. Immediately following the general meeting the Annual meeting got underway with all Convenors giving their yearly reports on their individual com- mittees. Mrs. M. Nicol gave her annual report and thanked all the executive officers for co-operation and work during the year and a special thanks to their Director, Dean Gallagher . The meeting was then turned over to Mrs. J. Kennedy in the absence of Mrs. L. St. Louis, chair- man of Nominations. The newly elected slate of officers for 1965-66 are: President - Mrs. M. Nicol, Secretary - Mrs. A. Regis, Treasurer - Mrs. L. Legault, First Vice - Pres. - Mrs. H. Boudreau, Second Vice - Pres. - Mrs. G. Dashkewtch, Third Vice - Pres. - Mrs. A. Ziegelman. Director Very Rev. Dean Gallagher presented the gavel to Mrs. Nicol and imparted his Blessing. The meeting adjourned with the singing of Holy God We Praise Thy Name and O Canada. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. C. Rousseau and her committee. SOCIAL NEWS The Terrace Bay Guiders Club will meet on Monda April 19th, at 8:30 P.M. in St. Martin's Church Hall Mrs. Mary Pat (Babe) Knight left Tuesday with her children Debby, Donny, Shelly and Nancy to join her husband Earl and make their home in Duncan B.C. Before leaving a large group of her friends gathered Friday evening in the Curling Lounge to wish her well as they bid her adieu. A hand-tooled leather purse and matching wallet and money was presented by the girls to Babe and the entertainment included a very hilarious skit on Babe's life while living in Terrace Bay. Prior to Earl's departure Branch 223 of the Royal Canadian Legion held a Farewell party for him, pre- sented him with a gift. A presentation of a purse was made by co-workers at the Mill to Earl as he was leaving. The Grade five class in the Public School held a party for Debby Knight, Friday afternoon, presenting her with jewellery and ornaments. The Grade three class also entertained for Donny Knight giving him a gift of a Car Model kit. The neighbourhood children held a party Saturday afternoon at the Falzetta home for Debby, presenting her with a book as their parting gift. Another departee from Terrace Bay Tuesday is Mrs. Carol Lindquist who leaves to join her husband Jack in Duncan, B.C. Carol is accompanied by her three daughters Lori, Cathy and Leslie. Before leaving Carol was entertained Monday afternoon at a Come and Go Tea, at the home of Fran Gerow. Assisting Fran were Doris Chopty, Win McKechnie and Steffie Dorman. . Carol was presented with a purse, scarf, gloves and gift of money from | those attending.
