He was ad- vised to invite Mr.L.Cottenden of the Fire Mar- shall's Office to meet with the Fire Committee. A meeting of the Bush Fire Committee had been held to discuss the replacement of equipment lost. They were now awaiting quotations. GOLF NEWS (Continued from page |) Joe Adamo, the fund-raising chairman, has or- ganized a committee to raise funds which will be set aside for the construction of the Club House. A motion was introduced and adopted for the incorporation of the Club. The cost for this will be $450. There was some preliminary discussion on the necessity of this expense but it was unan- imously accepted after Al Pattison showed showed the wisdom in operating as a corporation. Ross Mitchell was instructed to contact Emil Stokaluk, the Club Pro,and greens superintendent, and find out when he would be able to begin work- 'ing this spring. The last two fairways will receive immediate attention and should be ready for us about the be- ginning of July. The green fees will be higher this year but still very low in comparison with other clubs. The membership last year was much higher than expected. The low fees are based on the supposi- tion that the membership will be approximately the same. Rates will be published in the near future. Because of lack of time the unfinished business was postponed to the following week when another meeting will take place. GUIDE ASSOCIATION MEETS Mrs. Gladys Sitch was hostess for the March meet- ing of the Local Association to Guides and Brownies Chairman, Mrs. Shirley Mikus, opened with prayer and reports from Secretary Mrs. Betty Turner and Treasurer Mrs.Alice Farrow and correspondence were read. Social Convenor Mrs. Jessie St.Louis detailed THE NEWS Page II plans for the Mother and Daughter Banquet on March 3lst in the Motor Hotel and the assistance given to Guides planning their Mother and Daughter Banquet at the Hotel on April 24th. It was noted that the town had been canvassed by Guides and Brownies for Cookie Day. Publicity Report, Mrs.Gertrude Coiton and Brownie Registration report from Mrs. Irene Kettle. / Badge Secretary Mrs. Margaret Simmer listed numer ous Brownie testing arranged and further applications for testing. Assistance was offered in this work. Camp Convenor Mrs.Althea Fraser reported on her enquiries into purchase of a tent and dining shelter and was given permission to order both items. Uniform Convenor Mrs. Helen Brooks listed leader uniforms turned in and the waiting list for new uni- forms. Plans for the forthcoming Easter Bake Sale were noted and a request for assistance to pick up -- items. Mrs. Mikus reported on the Area Executive meeting she attended in Fort William and the District Com- missioners Training session, summarizing many of the new improvements to be implemented. Announcement was made of the Training camp to be held at Polly Lake June II to 13 for Guiders and thk Association agreed to assist Leaders willing to attend A refund was passed for Pack Two Brownies who had rented the film shown at last year's Banquet. Mrs. Mikus again discussed possible leadership for a proposed Ranger Company and sought assistance in arranging tests for a Guide. Before aljournment Mrs.Mikus invited the members to attend the next meeting, April 26 at her home. The evening was concluded with lunch served by the hostess. ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr.and Mrs. Verne Hopper are happy to announce | the engagement of their eldest daughter, Joan Marilyn, to Mr.Murray Angus Clark, son of Mr.and 'Mrs. W.G.Clark of Eganville, Ontario.
