March 25, 1965 KIWANIS KIDDIES KARNIVAL ON SATURDAY e Kiwanis Kiddies' Karnival will be held this year on Saturday, March 27th at 10:00 A.M. in the Arena. Races and novelty races will be limited to children of ages 6 to 12. A Queen from Grade 9 and Princesses from the Grade 8 classes will be chosen. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes for | either girls or boys up to the age of twelve in three different classes: Fanciest Costume, Best Tramp Costume and Most Original Costume. BANTAM ALL-STARS NORTH SHORE CHAMPIONS Terrace Bay Bantam AlT-Stars captured the North Shore Championship with a double victory over Geraldton and entered the Northwestern Ontario playdowns which were held in Manitouwadge. The Bantams had previously eliminated White River. Games against Geraldton were won handily by a 4-0 and 10 - 2 scores. The Bantam's travelled to Manitouwadge on Sat- urday in quest of the Northwestern Ontario Cham- pionship however, they met up with good skating and good passing in the Westfort Maroons and, although the local team did play good hockey they couldn't cope with the stronger Maroons. In the first game the locals built up a 3 - | lead but the Maroons came storming back and took a 6-3win. The second game was much closer as both teams battled to a 2 - 2 tie but this wasn't enough for the locals as they lost the round 6-5. On behalf of the Minor Hockey Association (E. Kettle) take this opportunity to thank all the people who drove cars to Manitouwadge and to Coach Gale Savoy and Albert Cadieux Sr., for his assistance with the team. MINOR HOCKEY DAY SATURDAY This Saturday will be Minor Hockey Day in Ter- race Bay with all the hockey teams taking part right from the small Flyweights to Midgets. There will also be three outside teams coming in for games:-- Marathon PeeWees, Red Rock Bantams and Geraldton Midgets. The players will blitz the town selling tickets - cost of the tickets to include the whole family to see the games. ~ COME OUT AND WATCH THE KIDS - START- ING TIME 1 P.M. Remember, don't send your boy to the rink--bring him and stay and watch him play. SEE YOU AT THE RINK ON SATURDAY !! Serving the District Vol .8, No.I% Welcome Curlers! The Terrace Bay Ladies' 11th Annual Bonspiel will get underway when Mr. W.McMicking pipes the curlers onto the ice on Friday, March 26th at 10.45 A.M. The club president, Mrs.Jayne Coons, will throw the first rock to start the competitions. Outside rinks from Coucheneur, Dryden, Chapleau Red Rock, Nipigon, Schreiber, Port Arthur and Fort William will take part in the thirty-two rink Spiel which will start Friday and end Sunday after- noon. You can't all win prizes ladies but we wish each of you a happy weekend of good curling and good fellowship. SUCCESSFUL ICE FROLICS PRESENTED On with the Show--and the 1965 Ice Frolics pre- sented by the Terrace Bay Figure Skating Club stepped off to the smooth b eat of Syncopated Jazz. Senior skaters all, the girls were Jamie Cumming, Shirley Phillips, Marcia Hamilton and Linda Hayes and their gentlemen in top hat and tails were Pamela Cumming, Molly Harris, Cheryl Duncan and Heather Boyd. Produced and directed by Mrs.Ivy Pattison, Club Professional, the show appeared both afternoon and evening in the Arena. Master of Ceremony was Mr. Jim Cumming. From a backdrop of storybook figures younger skaters began to appear in 'Disneyrama', starting off with Alice in Wonderland. A whirling rabbit, Carol Fawcett, was quickly followed by a petite Alice, Jacqueline Turner. The Chopty twins, Judy and Jane, were red roses. Laura Hartman appeared as the Queen of Hearts and an array of flowers were Lois Anne Galvin, Marlyn MacDonald, Geralyne Waghorn, Darlene Suo, Beverley Legault, Claudette Stevens and Phyllis Ann Turner. Kerry Waghorn and Rosemary Pattison carried colorful bowers through which Alice and the Rabbit, followed by the Waltz- ing Cards, could entwine. Waltzing Cards were | Gail Simmer, Kathleen Thorpe, Lise Lafontaine, Joanne Stevens, Pat Kelty, Mary Pat McLeod, Linda Kennedy, Cathy Ginn, Cathy West and Leslie Cotton. ; A quick trip to the wild west was provided when the Stuart trio, Anita, Cecile and Alice skated to Wringle, Wrangle. A diminutive duet were Mary Lou and David Ed- munds as Minnie and Mickey Mouse who called out to their friend Pluto, taken by Greg Chesley.
