LAKEVIEW DRIVE EXTENSION PLANNED Disclosure of an extension on Lakeview Drive was made Tuesday evening by Reeve W.Adamo as Coun- cil met in the Municipal Chambers. As Councillors urged, the Reeve agreed they should continue through to meet with Princess Avenue by a temporary gravel road. The land has been surveyed and an engineer will be consulted. Kimb erly-Clark Corporation wrote to Council stating it appeared desirable to unify all aspects of bush fire fighting equipment under the direction of Council for obvious administrative advantages and would therefore offer all bush fire control equipment presently stored in the Hydro Building for the sum of One Dollar, together with a voucher in the amount of $3,500 to cover replacement of bush fire fighting equipment lost in the recent fire. Council motioned to accept this very generous offer of Kimberly-Clark equipment. Notice of the Thunder Bay Municipal League meeting in Murillo on March Ist at 6.30 was re- ceived and, though Reeve Admo felt it important to have representation, Monday evening proved an unfortunate choice of time with no member of Coun- cil available. An Assessor's meeting meeting was scheduled for April 2 in Kenora and the Association of Assessing Officers will convene May I7 to |9 in Ottawa. With assessment presently under investi- gation, Council felt it important to have represen- tation at both meetings thereby appointing Clerk W. Hanley to attend the Assessors meeting in Kenora and Secretary W.F. Strutt to attend the Convention in Ottawa of the Assessors Association. Correspondence from the Improvement District of Dorion gave additional information on the proposed disctrict Home for the Aged, noting that of the eleven municipalities originally interested, seven had now withdrawn from Grandview Lodge. A table showing the change in assessment of th ese munici- palities accompanied the letter. The Secretary was instructed to look into the original assessment. February accounts for the Snack Bar were passed totalling $2,123.87 and for Recreation $4,165.50. A refund of taxes to Mrs.M.R.Jackson allowed by the Court of Revision was amended to disclude 1964 taxes. A lively discourse was set off when Councillor Cavanaugh reported no es- timate has been presented to date on the Centennial project. Councillor Kolody felt this project had not been agreed to by the new Council and reminded them of other proposals.
