Februar WAGE INCREASES GRANTED TOWN EMPLOYEES na lengthy regular meeting for February, lasting from 2.55 P.M. to 6.55 P.M., the Council dealt with many matters--rebates in various departments, increases in wages, etc. Councillor McGrath was opposed to water re- bates as being contradictory to recent motion, but rebates were made to Circle Route and Birch grove Motels, with usual service charge. Th awing charges of $17, taxes amounting to $68.30 and ambulance fees of $20.50 were written off. Road Superintendent E.Borutski's salary was in- | creased from $400 to $425 with $2.25 an: hour for | overtime and D.May's hourly wage increased from $1.75 to $1.90. Effective February Ist the police salaries were set at $417 (Chief) and $375 (Constable) per month. Clerk Skinner stated that free parking stickers to be used as goodwill gestures for tourists and during conventions, are on order. G.Figliomeni stated that although he is going out of the coal business he will continue to supply the Town Hall for the coming winter if necessary. The Industrial Inquiry Commission acknowledged Schreiber's brief on railway run-through, endorsed by Chapleau. Schreiber also endorsed a protest by the city of Moosejaw regarding removal of trains No.7 and 8. The Health Unit acknowledged the appointment of Councillor J.M.McGrath and H.G.Blanchard was again named town solicitor. A $25 grant was made to the Salvation Army. Photo by Inez McCuaig H.M. ERMEL HEADS LIBRARY BOARD H.M.Ermel was elected chairman of the public library board at their annual meeting. Other ap- pointments were Miss Gwen Hadley, secretary- treasurer (no salary) and Mrs.Andrea Hill, librarian at same salary. On the board are Mrs. W.W.Wilkes Mrs.D'Arcy McGuire, Mrs. W.G.Furlonger, pub- lic school representative, three year term, Mrs. Cyril Sparkes, high school board representative, two year term, Mrs.L.R.McCuaig, town council repre- sentative, three year term and Mr.Raymond Guillet, separate school representative, two year term. The Royal Canadian Legion presented a book giv- ing the history of the Legion entitled "Service" which was gratefully accepted. The board was pleased to learn from M.Dougall; district officer for the national film board, that film strips may be previewed before ordering, so that a better selection can be made. The Northwestern Regional Library co-operative are re-developing their present printing facilities in order to be able to offer a first class graphic arts centre. Word was also received that membership fees have been increased. Accounts totalling $798.75 were passed for pay- ment and the high school board were billed for unit made in the book exchange. Rental was passed to the town council with the understanding th at some agreement be reached for janitor services which is covered by the rate set. CANADIAN LEGION BONSPIEL The Canadian Legion wound up their annual bon- spiel on Saturday night with Master of Ceremonies (and sports chairman) Gino Caccamo, awarding the following prizes:- (Continued ........))
